We're talking all sports. Seattle hasn't won a title since 1979, since WNBA doesn't count. Our baseball and football teams have never even appeared in their sports' respective championships.

You were explaining earlier how you had it bad being a Mariner fan. Im just saying things could be worse, you could be a Texas Ranger fan.

The Rangers won three division titles in four seasons in the late-90s.

.... Mariners went to the playoffs in 95, 97, 00, and 01 and won 116 games in 01.
Of conspicuous absense on barterer's list is Philadelphia, with 0 since 83.

Smocko, you might want to look at number 2 on my list. As a native of the Philadelphia suburbs I know first hand the suffering in Philadelphia and it took a lot for me to put Cleveland higher.

1. Cleveland
2. Philadelphia
3. San Diego
4. Seattle
5. Buffalo
Also, to YAZ, yes the Rangers have never won, neither have the Astros, Padres, Expos/Nationals, or Brewers all of whom also came in existance in the sixties. Dallas, however, has the Cowboys and Stars which have each won recent championships.

The first sports season I can remember (1991), the Redskins won the Super Bowl. Since then, none of the teams I have cared about has even gotten to a Super Bowl/NBA Finals/World Series.

I think it's real easy to say Chicago sports fans whine too much if you use sample as small as was shown, but in the long run it is a far different story.
Baseball suffering - Chicago gets the number one spot, NO ONE gets to say differently or else they will be considered an idiot.
Football suffering - Sure, one super bowl, ever, wee. What do we have besides that? Almost a complete wasteland of broken dreams and worthless quarterbacks. Probably around 5-8th place.
Basketball suffering - Ah yes, the Bulls. Without them we wouldn't be able to even have an argument about which city has suffered the most, would we? Michael Jordan was indeed a gift and we Chicago fans are forever grateful. Suffering ranking, near the bottom, probably around 26th or 27th.
Hockey suffering - should we bother to count this? If we do, they are near the top as well, plus get bonus points for having one of the worst owners in sports...
But of course, we whine too much...

You're telling me that 25 years is too small a sample size! Don't be foolish, listen to what your fellow posters are saying about their first memories, solid posters like ME and FG have indicated they started in the nineties, youngesters like Peyton, Yakeekid and Jetpac would all be late nineties at best meaning 25 years encompasses an entire generation. Not everyone here is an old fogie like you and me and if you want to go through all of history I'll stack Philadelphia up against Chicago any day of the week.
Baseball Phillies 1883-2005 1 championship. A grand total of 8 post season appearances, primarily in the "golden age of 1976-83 (5). 1964, 26 consecutive losses in 1972. Sorry we didn't have a great classic stadium and couldn't be considered "lovable losers" like Boston or Chicago but we certainly have more last place finishes. Oh, yes, and more losses than any other professional sports team in history.
A's 1901-1953, two dominant stretches followed by fire sales and at least a decade of second division. Still this was the team that was beloved by the city until it abandoned them in 1953. Gave away Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Grove, Al Simmons, Eddie Collins among others.
Basketball. Warriors 1947-62. A great team lead by hometown hero Wilt Chamberlein. 12 playoff appearances during their sixteen seasons in Philly. Couldn't get out of the Eastern conference most season but did win it all in 47 and 56.
75ers 1964-2005. 2 titles 1967 and 1983. 9-73 record in 1972. Traded away Wilt for garbage. Traded away Barkley for garbage. Traded the number one pick in the draft for Jeff Ruland. Drafted Sean Bradley with the number one pick. "we owe you one" after the 1977 collaspe to the Trailblazers. Couldn't even beat the Lakers with Magic playing center. seven straight seasons out of the playoffs 1992-98.
Eagles. 1933-2005. 2 Super bowl appearances both losses. Championship in 1960, Rich Kotite,
Flyers. 1967-2005. Best franchise in town-2 championships in my lifetime (both before I knew sports in the mid seventies). 7 game finals against Edmonton-loss in 1987. Swept by the Red Wings. 0 Championships for the Lindros era. Pellie Lindberg crashing his Porche Spyder.
SO don't give me this Chicago crap  Our sports soul in Philly is much more deeply scarred than anything you can throw at me.

There are 30 teams in the NBA. Chicago ranks 1,287th---behind college programs, European teams and rec programs across the U.S. and Canada.

Granted, the Lakers are at some figure not yet conceived of by man without the aid of a complex equation and a bad meat hangover.

Milwaukee would have lumped in with Green Bay if there were any championships out of Milwaukee.
