Wall of Champions

November 13, 2006 at 12:52AM View BBCode

Here is the Wall of Champions. The original listing of World Series results has been replaced with a link to the post-season history page, now an integral part of our game site.

To view the BHL post-season history, [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/postseason.jsp?lid=318] click here[/url].

Please do not respond to this thread unless you won the WS and you want to add an WS MVP award summary for the year you won. If you want to do this, post the year, team, player, and a brief description on why he deserves it. It would be great if every winner would do this from now on.

The 1980 World Series MVP goes to Dale Walker for his dominant shutout for the fourth and final game of the series. Walker with his 9ip 6h 3bb 6k shut down and shut out the redbirds from obtaining any semblance of a comeback. The whole team watched in awe as this young stud of the Rural pitching staff just threw an outstanding game that will be remembered by the fans for decades to come.

1985 World Series MVP

July 08, 2007 at 09:32PM View BBCode

[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=3065072&statsorimps=stats]Lane Meyer[/url] hit .312 with one home run and 6 RBI in Cleveland's sweep of Milwaukee.

Some thought was given to giving the award to the Buckeyes starting rotation who gave up only 4 earned runs over 33 2/3 innings, posting a combined ERA of 1.07 and a WHIP of 0.83, but the voters split on that and Meyer added the World Series MVP to his second consecutive American League MVP.

1995 World Series MVPs

May 16, 2008 at 10:33PM View BBCode

Co-MVPs Miguel Cook and George Fernandez, but in reality there were several almost as MVPs, such as Tommy Prudhomme, Red Huffman, John Lopez.

[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/boxscore.jsp?boxscoreid=141178&series=25928&playoff=true]Game 1[/url]

Miguel Cook set the stage by defeating Sammy Sands in an epic Game 1 showdown. Sammy Sands is a fireballer with 226 Ks that year and the AL Cy Young. Sammy has the ability of shutting down an offense. On the other hand, Miguel is a control artist who keeps hitters off balance with offspead stuff and gets them out with an incredible understanding of the strike zone and the science of pitching. Not to mention pin point accuracy. He has had lots of injuries in the past few seasons and hasnt lived up to his hype.

But in Game 1, Miguel outduelled Sammy by keeping the ball out of the air. Within 1 out of a complete game shutout, red huffman misplayed a ball that turned into a double for Slick Hildebrand (a former braveheart). Skip asked Miguel if he wanted to finish it out, but Cook, the team player and workhorse, took himself out. Rodger beal came in and shut the door on the Cobras.

1998 World Series MVP

While many guys had an amazing series, [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?playername=nobody&statsorimps=playoffs&id=4131269]Bob Mack[/url] had the most impressive display. After a very slow NLCS, Mack decided he needed to make a difference. He batted .345, and slugged .724 which was .2 points higher than anyone else. Of his 10 hits, 6 were for extra bases, which included 1 HR, 3 triples and 2 doubles. The team knocked in 37 runs during the World Series and Mack had 10 of them, twice as many as the next closest teammate. Besides leading the team in RBI's he also lead the team in runs by scoring 7. Without him, the Red Birds probably would've lost.

2002 WS MVP

This award goes to [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?playername=nobody&statsorimps=playoffs&id=3962125]Roy Gagne[/url] because he led his team with 9 runs, 8 RBI's 11 hits and 3 HR's in a 7 game series. He slugged an impressive .828 and batted .379 throughout the World Series. Even though he had a dismal LCS and season he managed to turn it on at the right time to led the Red Birds to victory over a very powerful opponent in Boston.

2022 QWorld Series MVP

WOW! This is going to be tough!

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?playername=nobody&statsorimps=playoffs&id=6389776]Larry Delahanty[/url] appears to like the big games! 1.467 OPS, .938 SLG %, and a .562 AVG going 9/16 w/ 2 hrs and 4 RBIs.

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?playername=nobody&statsorimps=playoffs&id=6177193]George Bennett[/url] had a great series with a 1.500 OPS, 1.125 SLG %, and a .375 AVG going 6/16 w/ 3 doubles, 3 hrs and 4 RBIs making a statement he wants the MVP!

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?playername=nobody&statsorimps=playoffs&id=6807947]Ken McBride[/url] also had a great series with a 1.326 OPS, .938 SLG %, and a .375 AVG going 6/16 w/ a double, a triple, 2 hrs, and 7 RBIs.

So there it is ... 3 deserving MVPs! Who would you pick?

The Cobras selected George Bennett as the MVP! The old man with his bad knees came through for us and we wanted to thank him for his courage.

George Bennett said he will share this with his two fellow players and asked the management if it could be a tri-MVP! Always a team first type of player.

2026 World Series MVP

It was a great team effort this season getting the job done against a great Cleveland team and it was a tough call on who should be the MVP.

2030 World Series MVP

While many players contributed to the success of the Bad Gnus during our playoff run, there can be no doubt that [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7181202&statsorimps=playoffs]Steve Dickerson[/url] was our Most Valuable Player. Without Steve, we would not have had a chance.

In the NLCS, Steve faced NL Cy Young award winner [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?mode=player&playername=nobody&id=7181191]Mike Stirnweiss[/url] in games one and five. In the opener, the ace of the Bad Gnus was equal to the task shutting down the BullFrogs offense while pitching a brilliant shutout. In game five, Dickerson again pitched well, but came away with a no-decision. For the NLCS, Dickerson recorded a 1.08 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP in 16.2 innings of work.

In the World Series, Dickerson twice faced the ace of the Buckeyes, the young and talented [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?mode=player&playername=nobody&id=7390935]Jack Reacher[/url]. In the championship series, Steve pitched even better than he did in the NLCS. Dickerson won two games, surrendered one earned run in 16 innings of work, registered a 0.56 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP, and walked but two batters while striking out 16.

It is to no one's surprise that Steve Dickerson was the unanimous choice as MVP of the 2030 World Series.

2031 World Series MVP

The MVP could go to [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?playername=nobody&statsorimps=playoffs&id=7621139]Vaughn Malay[/url] who had three saves and only allowed one run. The award could go to any of the clutch hitters during the series.

[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?playername=nobody&statsorimps=playoffs&id=7181228]Dave Beecher[/url] however is the only clear choice. In game 1, the opening game of the series, it was Beecher vs. Steve "The dick" Dickerson. Steve, was unusually a little wild, but still effective. Beecher knew he had to be on his A-game allowed a sole single over 8 innings. When they met again in game 5, Beecher knew he had to better than the last outing. He was! A great 4 hit shutout. Before the WS, dickerson was 11-1 in the playoffs. This was a rare 0-2 showing for NY's cy young winner.

2035 World Series MVP

In late September, six-time all-star shortstop [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7390967]Jim Buckner[/url] suffered a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the NLCS. He recovered in time to return to the lineup for the World Series. And return he did!

He opened the series by belting the first pitch of the game into the left field bleachers to draw first blood and, more importantly, ignite a fire under his teammates that carried the aging band of veterans to the fourth World Series championship in franchise history.

For the series, Buckner recorded ten hits, four bases on balls, and a sacrifice fly in thirty-two plate appearances. Of his hits, half were for extra bases, two doubles and three towering home runs. Buckner also knocked in five runs and stole two bases as he led the team to the championship. For this series, Buckner clearly was the straw that stirred the drink.

2040 World Series MVP

January 28, 2012 at 11:45PM View BBCode

In a series that didn't have any huge power numbers the guy who has been a steadying influence on the Buckeyes for a decade, [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8168804&statsorimps=playoffs]Brock Callahan[/url], gets the nod as the 2040 World Series MVP.

Callahan hit .400 with an OPS of 1.123, hitting a pair of homers and driving in seven runs while scoring six, and also playing flawless defense in a poorly played series.
