NBA Playoffs

May 06, 2007 at 04:03AM View BBCode

Second round has begun and it's starting to heat up.

I could see both GS and NJ pulling another upset this round.

The Pistons spanked the Bulls today. I'm going to game 4 in Chicago.

Where does this apathy come from for the NBA? It's terribly misguided, there are some wonderful games you are missing here in your myopic stance against the NBA playoffs...

Oh, wait. Two yawns? You're right, it's all so terribly dull. Damn those spoiled thugs!

we could debate whether or not the NBA is worth watching, but I'd rather not

How about we debate the relative merits of NASCAR, instead?

I'll start, NASCAR is worthless and dull. Hmm, I guess I won...

why should i pay to watch people drive in a circle?

I don't pretend to understand the appeal of NASCAR but won't be pretentious enough to claim that it is simply driving in circles. I don't watch it but I don't watch a whole lot of basketball either-really just the NCAA tourney. It may be great sport but its not my thing. Really the NFL and MLB is all I have time for.

True but it is as common a lament among non-Nascar fans as the lament that NBA players are all thugs is among non-NBA fans

Yes, thus the reason I brought it up, I had hoped it would highlight the pointlessness of bemoaning how terrible something is that you have no intention of watching ever.

I don't recall "bemoaning how terrible" the NBA playoffs are. I simply said that on my calendar, basketball season ended with the NCAA tournament.

I have watched the NBA. I do watch the NBA from time to time. I don't think all the players are thugs. Besides, I watch the NFL, and the last time I checked, the Cincinnati Bengals were still in the league. But, given the choice between the NHL and the NBA...which choice I am given...I will choose the NHL every time, whether its regular season or post-season.

My preference for NCAA hoops over NBA has nothing to do with the perceived "thugishness" of the players, and everything to do with the style of play. I prefer basketball played by rules. I happen to believe that great players can still make sensational plays without traveling and/or carrying the ball all the time. I also find NCAA basketball exciting from opening tip to the final buzzer...at least if the game is close. In the NBA, it is more than just a common misconception that you don't need to watch the first three quarters of the game most nights.

Anyway, it's sort of a shame that the league's two best teams have to play in this round.

Yes, the Pistons are welcome most Fridays at the local late-night hot spot (where, admittedly, the Spurs still command the snooker table).

Haven't we already discussed this? Everyone hates the NBA... blah blah...

It's a shame that people get crap for bringing up a "sport" on the "sports talk" thread.

Bring back Magic and Bird! Until then, I'll wait for a Celtics Wizards Eastern Confernece Final to get too interested

Suns stuck it to the Spurs in game 2. This series promises to be great.

GS could have won last night's game, but couldn't get a rebound. Mehmet Okur may be my countrymen, but his lack of hustle on defense is pathetic. Boozer is an absolute beast though.
