I added a couple of links today, I put in links to player cards from the boxscore. And I made the draft year a link in the player card so you can view the draft results from that year.February 22, 2008 at 01:28AM View BBCode
Great enhancements, now what about running totals in the boxscores for 2B, 3B, HR, SB and such a la MLB.February 22, 2008 at 10:00AM View BBCode
The link to the draft is really cool. The player-card links in the box score are a real good idea and pretty useful, but am I the only one who feels that it makes the box score look awfully ... blue?February 22, 2008 at 02:57PM View BBCode
Great enhancements, now what about running totals in the boxscores for 2B, 3B, HR, SB and such a la MLB.That will be tougher to do as I don't think I have this data available.
eg: HR - Smith (17), Jones (9) etc.

I'm guessing it's just a matter of needing to get used to the new look. But it is something of a shock, isn't it?

Too bad about the data not being available as it would add realism to the boxscores.February 22, 2008 at 04:34PM View BBCode
If we don't have the data, it would cause the database to become huge and could possibly cause games to take much longer to run and pages longer to load. Just not worth the trouble.February 22, 2008 at 05:06PM View BBCode
Coming back to the aesthetic question, this is a web-based game, and we as a citizenry are becoming accustomed to more and more of the text we see being clickable. I think the improved function outweighs the issue of form. If there were an option to turn this on and off, I would choose to have it on.February 22, 2008 at 05:08PM View BBCode

Originally posted by ShaheenI do stuff like that too, and I bet many folks do as well. So this is, overall, a Great Leap Forward.
I normally look up the other teams pitcher when they are unhittable just to see what their stats were. Now I can just click on them instead of looking up the team page for the other team.

It'd be pretty easy to make the links gray or black using simple CSS.February 25, 2008 at 09:03PM View BBCode
Yeah, I thought about making it a different color.... problem with doing that is that people don't always know it is a link then....February 26, 2008 at 11:28AM View BBCode
I agree with you on that one, Tyson. Really, I think it's fine with the blue. Am I right that anyone who gets really exercised about it can change the colors for his own browser?February 26, 2008 at 05:04PM View BBCode
hmm, well they would still be underlined, and you could have a tooltip or something. Personally, I'd like all of the different visuals on the site to be able to be customized, but I guess until that day, the blue is fine.February 26, 2008 at 05:12PM View BBCode

Would it be possible to direct the pitcher links to their batting stats when they are listed as "batter" in the boxscore? Probably not worth the trouble, but if it's just a case of adding "&statsorimps=batting" to the link, it would be a nice touch (and not knowing the code, I have no idea if it's just that simple).March 05, 2008 at 01:40AM View BBCode
I like the links. Im all about the stats and the little nuiances, and I think its cool to be able to go back and see who was drafted before you star player, and compare their careers.March 06, 2008 at 07:06AM View BBCode
After reading everyone's reactions about the blue I was preparing myself for something of a shock... and then when I clicked through I wasn't shocked at all. I hardly notice it.Pages: 1
