Ridiculous comments made by Nets' President Rod Thorn, regarding their trade of Richard Jefferson for Yi Jianlian:

"We certainly gave up a good player, but to get a good player you have to give up a good player. With Yi, we feel his upside is very up," Thorn said. "We feel strongly he's going to be a real good player for us.

Seriously? I knew the players weren't educated, but I expect more from a team president.

Yi doesn't like white people.

They are trading for value not for quality. They are getting a cheaper contract player so that they can save money to get LeBron in 2010.

Happy is right. As of right now they are scheduled to be about $20-22 million under the cap in 2010. They're also hoping to build a young squad that will blossom right before LeBron hits the market. Jefferson is 28 and while his scoring is up, his rebounding and assist numbers were down. Yi's drawn comparison's to Dirk so if he pans out he could be a steal. And by drafting Brook Lopez they finally got the low post scorer they've been looking for ever since they lost the finals to Shaq and the Lakers way back then.

I demand a link, this is in direct violation of the "no comparing players of different ethnicities" rule. Or are asians white enough that you can do that now?

The only other Asian to compare him to is Yao, and since Yi isn't 7 feet tall, they had to resort to comparing him to another foreign player.

And they couldn't keep talking about his upside if they compared him to Wang Zhi-Zhi

I think they should just akwardly compare him to yao and then change the subject.

It will be pretty interesting to see that showdown between the Knicks and Nets happen. I guess the Cavs too, but he probably is leaving unless they get him some help soon.

And the whole racial comparison thing can be seen during any pickup basketball game in the US. I've never played with an Asian dude he didn't get called "Yao" at least once game. Hispanic players get Carlos Arroyo, and any half decent white guy is Larry Bird.

The funny thing is when terrible comparisons are made by professional sports commentators just because they are completely unable to compare players of different ethnicity.

i'd compare charles barkley to ummm... errr... I can't think of a white guy who was anywhere near the player barkley was, except bird, but i compared magic to him already. BJ Armstrong and Brett Barry, their's an interracial comparison.

Whew, almost didn't make it.

There's John Amaechi and Richard Simmons...

Jesus told him in person that being gay is bad.

That wasn't Jesus, it was Galactus. It's understandable, they look pretty similar.
