It is just ironic that he happened to pitch last night...and threw very well. What a terrible event.April 09, 2009 at 05:50PM View BBCode
No question it is sad...how many pitchers die the day after they start and throw well? Irony.April 09, 2009 at 06:00PM View BBCode
(I don't want to get into a whole thing about it, because this thread should be about the dead kid, but trust me, that is not irony.)April 09, 2009 at 06:13PM View BBCode
This is horrible news. I've spent the last two weeks in and out of the U of M SICU visiting my sister-in-law who is 22. It's always hard to understand why things happen to people this young who should have their whole lives to look forward to.April 09, 2009 at 06:17PM View BBCode
I don't know about LA, but running red lights is an epidemic in this state.April 09, 2009 at 06:20PM View BBCode
If they do find that the scumbag who ran away after the accident was under the influence I hope they make an example out of him and he serves 2 manslaughter sentences.April 09, 2009 at 06:25PM View BBCode
Thank god he was caught a mile away.April 09, 2009 at 06:33PM View BBCode

I'm sorry Bart, but there are no excuses for drunk driving. The "it could have been me but wasn't" is pretty lame.April 09, 2009 at 06:40PM View BBCode
I'm not excusing it. I'm saying that destroying someone else's life in response is also wrong for societyApril 09, 2009 at 07:33PM View BBCode
classy as always, eh?April 09, 2009 at 07:35PM View BBCode
Apparently the guy was driving on a suspended liscense too.April 09, 2009 at 07:40PM View BBCode
I don't feel any sympathy, but I also don't think we need to crucify him. He should be punished according to the law, no more, no less.April 09, 2009 at 07:42PM View BBCode
"Cops believe Gallo was driving under the influence and on a suspended license because of a prior DUI. He fled the scene and was arrested. Gallo could be booked on murder charges, along with vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run and felony DUI."April 09, 2009 at 07:47PM View BBCode
All his family's wine money ought to buy him some fancy lawyers that can get him out of the charges. "Yo Ernest, I'm in trouble yo. Get me that lawyer that hooked you up when they found cyanide in the 1996 vintage."April 09, 2009 at 07:48PM View BBCode
Look he was wrong, I think that everyone agrees on that. What purpose does it serve to have him "rot in jail for the rest of his life" Are we that vindictive as a society and if yes, is that a good thing. My contention is that it isn't and that we aren't.April 09, 2009 at 07:52PM View BBCode

Apparently the hit and run was a literal hit and run - the guy bolted from the van and took off on foot. How loaded do you have to be to think that that's your wisest course of action?
