Can the Marlins repeat?

May 13, 2004 at 04:39PM View BBCode

Do you think the Florida Marlins can repeat as World Series champs? My two cents:

The Marlins most definetly will repeat. They have dominant pitching (Beckett, Willis, Penny, A.J. Burnett is coming back soon), good hitting (Pierre, Lowell, Cabrerra), and they will surely get back to the playoffs.

btw, the Expos don't have the worst record anymore. It looks like the D-Rays will get the first draft pick.

I dont think they will. Not that they won't contend but losing Pudge hurt them more than they realize for a stretch run at the ultimate prize. Being here in Detroit (even though we still suck), we realize how much of a spark he puts into our players.

Give us some pitching help we would contend for the AL Central. Thats not saying much though.

It's all in context? Can they repeat? Sure, they just have to win more games than at least 12 other teams, then win the divisional playoff, the pennant, and eventually the World Series. So they in fact CAN, because they're still a franchise in MLB.

But will they? Or is it likely that they will? Perhaps not, but right place, right time... It could happen.

the question was will they repeat: NO!

they will NOT repeat. They will trade all their players away at the trade deadline for cash (if you would like to see some future yankees/redsox/angles, look at the marlins right now)

Maybe but I hope not. I hate when a team starts winning the playoffs every year. That takes the excitement out ofthe game. If I knew a team would win it every year, then I would stop caring. The Lakers did a good job of convincing me of that (actually Jordan and the Bulls convinced me of it, then the Yankees and Lakers helped to prove my theory). I like underdogs winning, or at least looking like they have a chance (in other words, they don't get swept)

The Marlins are good enough but in baseball, the best team doesn't always win. Plus, Philadelphia probably has a better team. The wildcard is gonna be interesting this year....

I dont always like underdogs. I hate the marlins. huge amount of fans, everyone in florida was wearing a marlins jersey when they win the World Series, and then right when they start sucking, no one watches anymore, and i didnt see 1 marlins jersey. they win the WS again, and when i went down there it was a sea of marlins jerseys again. an entire state of bandwagon fans. i may rather have the yankees win (but i got 2 burger kings...)
