Interesting that your list has no starting pitchers after integration on it, I'd have to include Tom Seaver, Sandy Koufax, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux and Pedro Martinez in any discussion about the "greatest pitcher of all time".

I don't really think you can compare pitchers from eras that are that diverse, Young pitched in the 19th century and up until the pre WWI era, Johnson in the 20's, Grove the 30's and pre WWII and Spahn in the 50's-60s, while Rivera is a reliever.Interesting that your list has no starting pitchers after integration on it, I'd have to include Tom Seaver, Sandy Koufax, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux and Pedro Martinez in any discussion about the "greatest pitcher of all time".

No, Steve Carlton? If one includes Koufax or Seaver into the club, then tossing in Steve Carlton makes sense considering he won the Cy Young four times in almost as long of a career as Ryan.
I am delibrately leaving off Roger Clemens who has fame as well as infamy to deal with.

No choice of Nolan Ryan? With his tremendous tenacity and longevity ... spanning four decades of quality pitching?No, Steve Carlton?
