Just stoppin' by to say hello and that Gene Michael was an 8th grade substitute teacher for my class in Stow, Ohio a long, long time ago. He was a player for the Dodgers at the time. That was cool!I still have his autograph stashed away somewhere around here. He was subbing for several days for Mr. Line, our math teacher.

Gene Michael was known during his playing days as "The Stick". And no, it had nothing to do with his hitting expertise! He was a tall, thin shortstop, hence the nickname. May have started during his college days at Kent State.
