Why is he tired ?

August 28, 2012 at 06:49AM View BBCode

I've asked this sort of thing before and never really received a satisfactory response.

Now I understand the need for some mystery in the game but I really wonder why [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=69339]Lou Schypinski[/url] is "pinch hit for because he's tired" in [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/boxscore.jsp?boxscoreid=65785&cityid=5]this game[/url] ?

He's A- in endurance and not pitching on short rest so shouldn't he be able to go more than 28 batters ? (he only faced 26 but my preferences call for him to be considered tired if he will become tired after facing the next 2 batters)

i believe 28 or so is about right for a-. whether or not that is what the number (of batters) should be is debatable, but that is how it plays.

(actually, if you think about it, if anything like this pitcher dominant code makes it to payside, we are going to need a new scedule for tiredness anyway.

because the pitchers are so good-that is, the code is making them too good-they zip through the lineups, they pitch more innings, because the innings are shorter. in the end, a team doesn't need as many pitchers as it does with the regular code, where there are all these hits and walks-whip is much, much higher.

this simply plays into the hands of the tankies, they stay in the tank long enough to get three very nice starters and one reliever, that's like all they need, a couple or three complemenatary pitchers they can buy easily, a cruddy low A- fourth starter, B+ fifth starter and a blowout inning eater.

if this were it to happen, it is a movement positively in the wrong direction. the present code requires more pitchers (for most folks, anway, although you can easily get by with nine), which is actually more like what is happening in real baseball, where they have an army of a pitching staff. code like what we are using here now only requires about seven pitchers total, two of them in the bullpen can be strictly placeholders, the kind of junk you get from the waiver wire.)
