If you were to start a mlb franchise from scratch...

If you were building a new major league team from scratch, what are the first couple of players who come to mind?

I know people say you should start with a ss or catcher but what about Trout? Great average, power, speed, and defense and he'll be around for another fifteen years. Anyway, I think he'd be my guy- anyone have another player or two?

He's going to cost a lot of money very soon, so you would have to be in a big market

Sooooooo, you're starting an MLB franchise and you're worried about how much your "franchise player" is going to cost ?

I guess you are starting that franchise in Miami right ?

I'd probably rank my top 5 as:

Trout
Kershaw
Posey
Harper
Stanton

Starling Castro just misses, but he's gonna be awesome and Strasburg misses due to the injury risk, there is a ton of under 25 talent in the majors right now but I'd be happy with any of my top 7

I'm pretty sure I'd go Kershaw. A young lefty at that level is hard to come by.

Hey guys, thanks for the names. Turns out that I had the 22nd pick out of 24 teams. Awesome. I ended up grabbing Heyward at 22. Trout did end up going first. Kershaw was right behind him, as was Posey.
