We have added a small wrinkle to the Amateur Draftee code.April 24, 2014 at 09:57PM View BBCode
This is an interesting addition, however based on the four players added to the ASL I can't see anyone drafting any of this foreign talent anywhere near the 1st round. In fact I would be surprised to see any of these four ever making it off the waiver wire.April 24, 2014 at 10:00PM View BBCode
In the salary leagues, will owners have to pay a percentage of the Cuban player's earnings to the drug cartel that smuggled him to Mexico?April 25, 2014 at 02:18PM View BBCode
the only exception I can see, is that these players should be good. they would not be in the real life draft if not. would they? so they should just be created good, IMO.April 25, 2014 at 02:33PM View BBCode

I'm just jazzed SimD has acknowledged that global players are now a part of MLB. The draft tweaks will come, I'm sure, especially with knowledgeable and experienced Simmers such as yourselves holding the Admins accountable.April 25, 2014 at 05:04PM View BBCode
Those are some awful players. I ran the code about 7 or 8 times while testing in the ASL. There were some A- players in some of them. I'm not concerned about the quality. I'd expect more than half the players to make a major league roster. This looks like a bad bunch, and I think the bad players on some of the unmanaged teams in the ASL are bringing the talent level down.April 25, 2014 at 05:26PM View BBCode
ah. it wasn't clear to me from your statements whether they supposed to be better than average players across the entire league or average players including the minor leagues. I am sure you know what to do. but, if you aren't using major leaguers as the comparison, I would suggest that. just leave the minor leaguers out of it. players this old are supposed to be coming out as major leaguers, or very close to it. so they should be better, in some degree, than the average major leaguer. of course, tanky players in the majors could drag this down too. but maybe not so much. in a salary league with cp? there would tend to be really bad minor leaguers other than the pointed up ones, because they make zip.April 25, 2014 at 05:36PM View BBCode
I look at players on a major or minor league roster that are between the ages of 25 and 32 to set the league talent level. I don't want to make the players too good as it may create too much talent inflation. On average, they will be better than fully developed versions of the draftees they are replacing because we're not looking at the waiver wire to set the league talent level, and over half of every draft class ends up on the waiver wire.April 25, 2014 at 07:26PM View BBCode
It would be pretty cool to have those 4 or 8 foreign players to have blind skill grades, but yeah I love this idea. Would it be worth while to limit their option years?April 25, 2014 at 09:05PM View BBCode
not needed (the options limit). if someone wants to shuffle them between the majors and minors, so what? it would be meaningless.April 25, 2014 at 10:18PM View BBCode
I think the option years should be limited. Perhaps to keep it simple, they shouldn't have any options.April 28, 2014 at 01:30AM View BBCode
The 2TL average talent level is quite wacky at this point, but looking at the draft at least one of those guys will be a star, the others likely won't hit the waiver wire.May 01, 2014 at 06:46PM View BBCode
Tyson, I picked up from the wire the recently drafted foreign player:Pages: 1
