Why am I on the hook for his salary

July 09, 2014 at 10:09PM View BBCode

After the 2043 season [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9818612]Chuck Johnson[/url] mercifully retired, I haven't followed the ASL in a while or he obviously wouldn't have been in the majors, but I don't understand why LA is on the hook for his $1.52M in salary.

He wasn't a free agent signing and had he been waived we wouldn't have had to pay him so why does his retirement stick us with the bill ???

I think I have the same where [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9818597]Joe Lewis [/url] retired, I was counting on him but he took his money and retired early, not used to seeing them retire at 26 lol...

Remember about a million years ago when my Cy young winner....retired 3 seasons into a 5 year deal...1 season removed from a Cy young win... Making 12 million a year. I was on the hook for that guy 12 million per season, for 2 seasons when he was retired.

We also have had early retirement in here for long time too. There are typically some players that retire crazy early every year. The ones that are fun are when really good player retires after good season. I believe its suppose to mirror a career ending type injury.....

I bumped up both threads so new guys can read about it.

Yes but your guy had been signed as a free agent and had years left on his contract so you were obligated to pay, both Johnson and Lewis still had option years left, had either owner waived them they would not have had any financial obligation so I don't see why retirement should leave us on the hook for salary.

Yep. You're right. Good point.

So I posted this in support a couple of days ago, privately because I've been told in the past to do this with "Beta issues" and the silence has been deafening.

I'm so glad that this question was never answered, or even addressed, by admin. After all that's why we have beta leagues right ?

I'm looking at the code - and he shouldn't have retired. It may have something to do with the database setup on Beta. If you guys see this again, please let me know.
