Let owners vote on MVP`s And Allstars.

Why not let league owners vote on AS and MVP`s at seasons end. Abe could even list a top five in each category. and let owners do actual voting. Abe gives tooo much credit in certain stat areas thats not realistic in real baseball. Lots of owners hate the way abe picks a.s and mvp`s.

1) Most owners will generally stuff the ballot box with their own guys
2) There will be a hard time getting the vote out. I know from years as a HOF commish it was tough to get a majority of owners to vote on a Hall of Fame ballot every couple of seasons and generally took a week or two, real time, to get a consensus. In the SIM two weeks in a 12 gpd league means the All Stars wouldn't be announced until the end of the next season.
Lets face it All Star teams are a very subjective issue, in the sim and real life, in fact the owners that have been around a long time often don't even bother to look at the AS page, I know I don't.

I would kind of like to be prompted to vote at the end of the season for any awards that are within 50 points at the end of the season. That would be nice. Kind of like a tie-breaker deal.

Abe lists the top 5. That way owners could not Stuff ballot. If the voting format listed the contenders and had a box next to them to check, everyone would vote.

But then you're right back to dealing with ABE having to determine who the top 5 are and the inherent bitching would continue: "Why wasn't so and so listed in the top 5 "
You have a greater faith in humanity than I do, I still think you'd be lucky to get 75% .

Pretty much my thoughts. If every owner was active your idea would be a great one. I mean, it's a good idea, actually, it's just that you couldn't count on reliable execution. Most likely, you'd find ABE would have done a better job than the few who voted, perhaps selfishly.

Pretty much my thoughts. If every owner was active your idea would be a great one. I mean, it's a good idea, actually, it's just that you couldn't count on reliable execution. Most likely, you'd find ABE would have done a better job than the few who voted, perhaps selfishly.

I've actually been in a league that did this for several years. In the entire time we did we seldom (I kind of think never actually) had a different vote outcome than what AFE had in the first place. We had good participation for the first three years or so. As it became clear that the voting wasn't going to change much of anything fewer people voted each time until it became pointless. We gave up the whole thing after a half dozen years or so. It's a great idea in theory. But it doesn't work in practice.

I believe there are some leagues that vote for the league MVPs. That's something that could work if you have an active league.Pages: 1
