This came up in the suggest enhancements area. Jzirker suggested it. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this. It would be hard to do, but it could be very rewarding. Here's the post he made.September 29, 2004 at 01:29AM View BBCode
So im taking that no one has any interest in a league like this?September 29, 2004 at 05:54AM View BBCode
Would take some work to pull off - and I think there are some things that take priority at this point.September 30, 2004 at 03:55AM View BBCode
That sounds like a programming nightmare. Interesting idea though...October 03, 2004 at 06:47PM View BBCode
Im no computer programmer so if i asked you what you would have to do, it probably wouldn't help me at all understand how hard/easy it is. Do you have any idea when you could get around to am idea like this, or do we need to have enough people for the majority of the league before you would considered it?October 03, 2004 at 07:58PM View BBCode
I doubt too many people would be interested in a totally blind league.October 05, 2004 at 09:11PM View BBCode
Not knowing the ratings would make it more exciting. Well at least for me.October 06, 2004 at 11:32PM View BBCode
I'd love to try it if we can get it done... I suppose while tyson works off things on the 'higher priority' list, we can banter around some suggested league ground rules, etc. - so if he does get some programming time free to hep us out we'll be that much further down the road?October 06, 2004 at 11:36PM View BBCode

Blind leagues seem to be of interest only to the long-time Sim Dynasty players, most owners who haven't seen years and years of play prefer the standard.October 11, 2004 at 12:29AM View BBCode
very interesting. It's something I would have interest in when the time comes alongOctober 11, 2004 at 01:55AM View BBCode
I'd have no interest in a league of this type. If I understand the premise correctly, I wouldn't be able to tell how good a player really is in case I want to make a trade or promote or demote someone. In real life, does a general manger make a trade without knowing how good the players are? I think the improvements and the grades let me know exactly how my players are progressing which is what a real life team tries to do with its players, both majors and minors.October 13, 2004 at 04:00AM View BBCode
Its nice knowing how your players develop but some players, sometimes die out. When the Reds went to sign Griffey i bet they didn't expect to him to play 200 games in 5 seasons(or whatever it was).October 14, 2004 at 10:13AM View BBCode
I see what you're saying, Chilly. My young 3B in the DML, Ty Anderson, broke out with a 30 HR season a couple years before he started doing that stuff full-time...I still don't know exactly how much power he has, but even at the time, I knew 37 was an abberation based on his rankings. The problem, though, is this: There'd be no way to evaluate incoming talent. And since stats aren't generated for minor league seasons, who to develop and who to call up would be guesswork.October 15, 2004 at 09:24PM View BBCode
problem is you have no clue how good your minor leaguers are. no minor league staistics.October 16, 2004 at 12:00AM View BBCode
Yeah minor leagues is a problem esp for 1950. But for the ama draft, if you put in the rankings you want you will get a list of players. that's would be how you tell who is good and who isn't.October 16, 2004 at 12:00AM View BBCode
So after 1950 you would have an idea of who is good and who is bad.October 16, 2004 at 12:14AM View BBCode
but lets say you draft a 17 year old, and then the improvements occur, when do you bring him up? for all you know, he had 0 total improves. for all you know he could have been A+ overall ranked originally and you shouldve brough him up when he was 17.October 16, 2004 at 05:26AM View BBCode
I think if someone could figure out how to help Tyson program the minor-league game-playing idea I posted in the Suggest Enhancements thread, we'd have a shot at making this work.October 16, 2004 at 10:41PM View BBCode
It may happen in real life, but that is because a crappier player may be putting up better numbers in the minors, not because they just randomly bring up whoever happened to be the 1st round pick. Another reason would be that it is hard to compare minor league stats to major league stats in real life. You dont even have minor league stats to look at. you have a totally blank players card.October 17, 2004 at 03:45PM View BBCode
I know minor stats don't exist that's why if the idea redcped posted in the suggest enhancements thread could be put into effect that would solve that problem. But idk even know if it is possible, tyson has never commented on it.October 17, 2004 at 05:15PM View BBCode
It is possible, but because the minor league stats arent very important for the normal leagues, i dont think it is very high on the priority list. I dont htink tyson plans on writing the programming for the entire minor league being set up for playing games for this one league.October 18, 2004 at 12:18AM View BBCode
Yeah he might not, but were not asking for box scores or anything, just the stats so these simulated games wouldn't be viewed. There would be no standings. So the space amount and what people would be able to look at would barely change. But i know jack about programming. Its seems somewhat simple to me but i could be totally wrong. But as i said before Tyson would need to give us some feedback on the difficultly of doing this.Pages: 1 2
