For the simple fact that at 40 he kicked the crap out of an uppity late 20's early 30's Robin Ventura after he charged the mound. :DDecember 17, 2004 at 11:24PM View BBCode
If hitters can carry bats, pitchers should be allowed to carry sidearms.December 17, 2004 at 11:28PM View BBCode
The stupidest one I can ever remember was Reggie Sanders back in his younger days with Cincy. Pedro was pitching for the Expos in the years where he was known pretty much solely as a headhunter (mostly for pitching like Gibson did all the time) and had a perfect game going in about the sixth or seventh inning. Well, Reggie was crowding the plate and Pedro hit him and Sanders charged the mound. What-did he think that Pedro thought it was more important to hit him than throw a perfect game?December 18, 2004 at 12:30AM View BBCode
I think Bonds has the biggest problem when it comes to crowding the plate. You throw on the inside corner and he gets mad, you throw inside, he gets incredibly mad, you throw near his body, oooooo its all over.December 18, 2004 at 01:15AM View BBCode
I don't think hitters should be allowed to wear any protective equipment except a batting helmet and a glove(s). These guys go up there now looking like medieval knights headed to a jousting contest.December 26, 2004 at 07:56PM View BBCode

True he just glares out and then cranks the next one 500 feet. Steroids or not that guy has the quickest damn hands outside of Ali.December 27, 2004 at 05:10AM View BBCode
Speaking of Ryan, someone should take that last spot in the NRL, I hear the moderator is a really cool guy...:saint:December 28, 2004 at 04:24AM View BBCode
Nolan Ryan isn't even one of the 10 best pitchers of all time. He walked way too many people.December 28, 2004 at 04:36AM View BBCode

Walter Johnson, Bob Gibson, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Tom Seaver.December 28, 2004 at 06:18AM View BBCode
Dammit ME, Lefty Grove! We're going to have to kick you out of the saber club if, when the question of greatest pitcher comes up, Lefty Grove isn't on the tip of your tongue every time.December 28, 2004 at 06:36AM View BBCode
Lefty Grove would crumble under the mighty punch of the Express.December 28, 2004 at 06:43AM View BBCode
Lefty Grove's career ERA vs league ERA of his playing years was 3.06 to 4.54 (1.48 lower). Ryan was 3.19 to 3.57 (0.38 lower).December 28, 2004 at 08:07AM View BBCode
Everyone on the Ewok Homeworld knows that Nolan Ryan is the best everDecember 28, 2004 at 08:24AM View BBCode
Ewoks...kill...destroy...ruined Return of the Jedi...must die...kill them all..all of them...no mercyDecember 28, 2004 at 10:01AM View BBCode
Nolan Ryan, incredibly overrated. yeah, he had lots of no hitters, and also had lots of games he got destroyed.December 29, 2004 at 03:12PM View BBCode
Not using the quote function--but Joe Cowley had a No Hitter and walked in runs. I like Nolan Ryan a .546 win percentage for 27 years is amazing. Lets not forget his .110 Batting average and 4 career homers.January 01, 2005 at 06:07PM View BBCode
I dont think batting stats are very important for pitchers....January 05, 2005 at 10:01AM View BBCode

Nolan Ryan was probably the most UNIQUE pitcher of all-time. No one like him before, probably not again...in our lifetimes anyway. People talk about unassailable records, and I think the safest record in baseball is Ryan's walks allowed record. He had to be awfully good to overcome that kind of handicap. I think there was one season he walked 200 guys and won 20 games. Yep...I double checked...1974. He almost did it again in 1977, but he only won 19 games that year.Pages: 1
