Goodbye Kotch, hello Teixeira

Wish the Angels had done this last year... but oh well. I really hope they can get a contract worked out with him soon. But I won't hold my breath since he's a Boras player.

The one bad thing I've found about this trade is that Quinlan now has to play 1B tonight. Ugh.

The Angels made... a trade?

Great trade for the Angels. To think there was a time I would have cared about this type of move. Bavasi just buried us. I only hope we ship out Washburn in the next day or two.

Gah. I was hoping that the D-Backs would get Texiera. They need another bat.

Oh hell no. Kendry Morales will be playing there next year.

Unfortunately, the deal with the Yankees seems to be dead in the water. Apparently Cashman is willing to take on his entire contract and give us Kei Igawa, but Lee Pelo wants both Melky Cabrera and touted prospect Brett Gardner, plus he wanted to dump Vidro on the Yankees as well. Cashman balked, and things are now at a stalemate.

If we can't get Washburn off the books I'll be pissed.

Wait, he wants all that for Washburn!?

Wow.

Cashman isn't exactly going to give us Kei Igawa -- that would be a salary dump on their end. But I agree it's ridiculous that we're holding out for two outfielders to clear a net of about $9 million in salary off the books.

I really can't understand why another team wouldn't want to pay top-dollar for a below-league average pitcher who plays in a pitcher-friendly ballpark.

Adam Eaton can be had and he's a cheaper alternative to Washburn plus he does usually make it through the 4th inning of his starts-or did before he got pushed to the pen then to the Myers Road.

Because he's a lefty. And lefties are censored gold.

My lasting memory of Washburn is Ortiz hitting a game ending (was it series ending too?) HR over the green monster in extra innings off of him.

Seattle is silly to hold out for top-dollar on him. Not even the Yankees would overpay for that.

I hope so. That is worth at least 2 points to his Velocity.

But where it really helps is in the clubhouse. Guys see facial hair like that, they know they have to actually start trying.

That Carlos Silva was quite a grinder last night, no? Just the type of performance you expect from proven veterans.
