It'll only be the greatest (in recent memory) if the go on to win the world series. Personally I think the run by the Angels in 2002 was pretty stellar, although it certainly wasn't the greatest of all time.September 15, 2008 at 02:15AM View BBCode
The Rockies could've made an argument last year if they hadn't been nuked by the Red Sox in the World Series. But for sheer "coming out of nowhere at the end" baseball, you have to put them on the list. If you're thinking more of worst-to-first I still have to give an honorable mention to the 1989 Baltimore Orioles, who went from 54 wins to 88 (87??) and missed the post season by a couple of games.September 15, 2008 at 02:47AM View BBCode

The rays were considered a prime candidate for the playoff spot before the season began. BP already predicted an above .500 record. It depends on what you are looking for. If its small money beating big money, the A's have made a pretty big name for themselves for a while in recent times, although they didnt ever go all the way (I would consider small money beating big money to be cinderella story). If its "terrible team that totally shouldnt have won winning", well i dont know who that is. If its comeback story (different than cinderella imo), obviously the braves are a good pick.September 15, 2008 at 06:26AM View BBCode
