Due to my age (22), I've only "seen" so much baseball, so I have have to go with this years Rays; although I did enjoy the D-Backs run in 01.

It'll only be the greatest (in recent memory) if the go on to win the world series. Personally I think the run by the Angels in 2002 was pretty stellar, although it certainly wasn't the greatest of all time.

The Rockies could've made an argument last year if they hadn't been nuked by the Red Sox in the World Series. But for sheer "coming out of nowhere at the end" baseball, you have to put them on the list. If you're thinking more of worst-to-first I still have to give an honorable mention to the 1989 Baltimore Orioles, who went from 54 wins to 88 (87??) and missed the post season by a couple of games.

Oh, where have you gone, Dave Johnson? (Actually, not very far).

The rays were considered a prime candidate for the playoff spot before the season began. BP already predicted an above .500 record. It depends on what you are looking for. If its small money beating big money, the A's have made a pretty big name for themselves for a while in recent times, although they didnt ever go all the way (I would consider small money beating big money to be cinderella story). If its "terrible team that totally shouldnt have won winning", well i dont know who that is. If its comeback story (different than cinderella imo), obviously the braves are a good pick.

The '95 Mariners deserve mention, as do the '97 Marlins.

Speaking of Cinderella III... anyone (parents maybe?) seen the new Little Mermaid movie?

My mom's favorite movie of all time is the little mermaid. I was thinking about buying her the sequel (i dont think she even knows it exists), but it needs to be at least slightly better than a smoldering piece of crap.

I said honorable mention. I didn't say they were in the running for anything. They still had a hell of a good year considering. If they hadn't been forced to overuse Olson and Williamson they probably would've pulled it out, too. To surmise, it was Kevin Hickey's fault.

trading away a bunch of tanky prospects for proven veterans does not a cinderella make. they did, of course, turn back into a pumpkin, so i guess that is a point in their favor.
