Ok, here we go. To make this fair, lets pick at least 5.
1.Hornsby
2.Cobb
3.Williams
4.Bonds (I think I can defend this one).
5.Gehrig
6. Ruth
7. Aaron
8. A-rod
9.Pujols (I just like his consistency w/power and average)
10. Joe Jackson
That is my list...everyone differs. Joe D will always land on someone's list, trust me. I'm also sure that I will be challenged for this one too.

you may well be able to defend putting bonds in 4th, but good luck defending ruth in 6th.

I was right. Albert, you make a fine case for Vlad, but he doesn't crack my top ten, just like i'm sure Shoeless Joe wouldn't make yours if you put up your best top ten. Much respect to Vlad, he is in my top 20. As for Pujols, his career isn't over yet. I'm just allowing time to take course and I'll give it less than ten...say five that I can actually move him towards the top five on this list however.

Mays should be nowhere to be seen. best "hitter" not best position player. Mays was a great hitter, but the reason he is one of the 5 best players ever is because he was such an amazing fielder on top of that.the answer is

Al Kaline, not so much. Sure, he was a solid hitter in a time where it was hard to find a solid hitter, but I'd take Yaz from that particular era.My tops...
