Detriot Tigers collapse

October 04, 2009 at 01:31AM View BBCode

I can't believe I'm seeing this. I was at the game last night and now today's showing is pitiful.

Look, if Tiger has a twin then we must address this. Do they trade tournaments, do they trade... women...?

If there is a tiebreaker game, I am betting the Tigers for value. Every square in town is going to bet the Twins because of the Tigers' collapse.

I'd hate to see Detroit have to suffer through missing out here. The Twins run has been great but I'd like to see Detroit as a city have something good happen.

I think if Michael Jackson taught us anything in his star-speckled life, its that it is cruel to give a dying city too much hope for anything. Better to have Detroit lose to drive the message home that much quicker.

(2000 square foot homes! Only $20,000! Buy one get one free! Please...! *glug*)

Now, serious houses. You know, inhabitable and whatnot. [url=http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/15285-Tacoma_Detroit_MI_48205_1113014570]$750,[/url] [url=http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/18695-Caldwell-St_Detroit_MI_48234_1111927341]$893 - 5 bedrooms![/url]

Sim Dynasty clubhouse(s)? I think so. But, really, it would be nice for something to happen to Detroit. OH, WAIT, THAT'S RIGHT, THEY HAVE THE REDWINGS.

while i can understand bart's sentiments, as a jays fan (partcularly one who knows full well how the wings have done lately) who vividly remembers 1987, i have to say i'm enjoying this immensely.

(Is there anything more played-out and obnoxious than "let's all root for Detroit sports teams because the auto industry imploded?" I was rooting against Boston College yesterday, too.)

My girlfriend is from Detroit. The success of the Red Wings and Tigers does nothing for the trenches. They can't afford to go to the games anyway. It's all the people in the suburbs that attend.

Pittsburgh figured it out. I hope Detroit can too. But this whole rally around the sports thing makes no sense to those that know what the locals have to deal with.

I've always liked the Lions and Tigers because they're cats. But I like the Twins better because a friend of mine loves the Twins (his whole life). Anyone who is Minnesota Nice but from Wisconsin has the 1-2 punch from hell.

The Astros have won exactly squat since they joined MLB.

48 years of meh.

The Tiggers have won, what, 3 WS since then?

Boo Hoo.

In good news, Jac is thrashing the Tits. Any day Bud Adams' team gets beat is a great day.

I wasn't even on board for rooting for the Yankees after 9-11, I sure as hell won't root for the damn Tigers. I liked the Tigers better when they were narrowly avoiding setting futility records at the end of their seasons. Those were good times.

Besides, isn't winning a World Series only three years into existance more showing of the "American Spirit" than a 27th ring?

lol detroit. we should root for their sports teams so that they can say: "we are in a crippling depression and a quarter of our citizens are homeless, but at least our team made the playoffs"?

Yes, I agree that is the silliest argument. I care because I've loved them since I was about 4.

Obviously. The person we're making fun of here is Bryan.

Isn't that always the way it is though?

Since I don't care for either the Twins or the Tigers I'm rooting for Detroit.

For those who think it doesn't matter to a town if their sports team wins or loses I disagree, there is an excitement around a playoff team that brings people a moment of joy even when everything else is falling apart.

(Happy said it right. It's bread and circuses. The people who talk about "lifting the city's spirits" are people who have jobs.)

Leave it to the Twins offense to give Rick "4.42 K/9" Porcello 7 strikeouts today.
