Peppers gets his big payday (not from the Skins, incidentally.) The Lions continue poaching Seattle's players (godspeed, Burleson). The Hawks might be trading for Brandon Marshall (I really hope Hard Knocks comes to Seattle if this goes down).

Anything else going on?

Jesus Christ, if we give up our #6 pick for Marshall I'm throwing myself off the Space Needle. I'm suddenly not so cool with this move if we do.

Are you kidding me? I fucking hate the Seahawks. Pete Carroll my white ass.

I don't think there's any way the Seahawks are looking at signing Marshall straight-up at the level he's tendered, if they get him it will be in a trade. It would make absolutely no sense otherwise.

I know hope springs eternal, but...

does a receiver like marshall even help Seatac at this point?

they were pretty awful last year...

The Bears got Peppers and Chester Taylor, so I'm happy. It's not a wide receiver, like some people contended was their biggest concern, but I think they can work with what they have. The lack of a consistent pass rush has been their biggest problem for awhile now, don't let people tell you otherwise. A team can get by with okay receivers in the right system.

Of course he can't. Don Hutson and Jerry Rice (the not-ancient one) couldn't save the Seahawks. The new brass might forget that we did bring a good receiver in last year in T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and the team still went to shit because we have a hobbled QB throwing behind a patchwork line (and a mediocre defense that was ravaged by age and injuries). If we don't draft an OL at 6 and/or 14 so help me I am mothballing my Cortez throwback and boycotting the Pete Carroll 'Hawks.

(Brandon Marshall is in town for a visit today and I am thinking I should run him down in my car. That said, if there's a flag-football league in Seatac he would undoubtedly lift the prospects of whichever team he played for.)

Wow, the Cards offloaded Anquan Boldin on the Ravens for practically nothing: 2010 3rd and 4th for Boldin and a 2010 5th. Baltimore ought to be scary next year, and not just because of all the murders.

And Ben Roethlisberger now has as many sexual-assault allegations leveled against him as Super Bowl rings. Now if only he could work on doubling his life-threatening motorcycle wrecks.

It's like Carroll (and don't kid yourself, Carroll is running the show, I'm convinced that John Schneider is only a puppet to him) is saying "our offense is fine, Hasselbeck is fine, we just need one more piece to push us over the top." It's madness. Hasselbeck is done, the offense needs a complete overhaul. We've ignored the QB position for far too long, and we absolutely can't afford to ignore it for yet another offseason.

Huh? Kerney, maybe (he needs to be cut already) but.....Tapp, Mebane, Hill, Curry, Jackson, Wilson? Our defense is actually the bright spot on the team. The secondary got thrashed because we had no pass rush, but if Tapp and Jackson develop (and by "develop", I mean "get regular playing time and stop fucking signing stopgap veterans"), I expect good things to happen.

And they will still suck because they will always be on the field because the offense still sucks and Marshall has nobody to give him the ball and oh God kill me now.

I wanted to give the new 'Hawks regime the benefit of the doubt, but all I'm getting right now is bad vibes. I read Schneider in the Times saying things like "collaboration" and "compromise" and I cringe. He may as well say "I'm only General Manager because "Pete Carroll's Doormat" isn't an official position."

I'll be honest with you, I think we absolutely can ignore the QB position another offseason -- it's the offensive line we've really let go fallow. Hasselbeck is done, so what's it matter if we run him out there as a sacrificial lamb one more season, while we focus on the line? Besides, if you want a QB this season, your most likely candidate is Jimmy fucking Clausen, and I am not down with that frosty-haired pieceofshit.

So, we tank the season and gun for Jake Locker? Sounds like a plan.

(How about Bradford instead of Claussen? Or maybe C.J. Spiller? I don't know any of the top lineman out there)

Kerney is old. Trufant is 30 and missed six games to injury. Ken Lucas is 30. Deon Grant is 30 and sucks at any age. There's your "age." We do have some young guys, too, and many of those missed time to injury. Tatupu missed 11 games. Curry missed a couple. Wilson missed four. There's your "injury." A few of the young guys who stayed healthy, like Babs and Jackson, suck the balls. There's your "mediocre."

Russell Okung is the only name I can give you, and he probably won't be there at No. 6. There are others out there, though; this class is quite deep at offensive line. There's supposed to be a really great guard out there, from a small school (I looked him up, Mike Iupati, Idaho).

Honestly, the only draft I will be perfectly happy with has us taking an OT at No. 6 and another lineman, offense or defense, at No. 14. And that will never happen, which makes me want to stab and stab and stab.

Pete Carroll tried to recruit Claussen and is in love with him. I will join you in the stabbing.

Chad Clifton's signing is big for the Packers. He helps that O-line tremendously.

Carolina release Delhomme, which means they will probably make a push to acquire McNabb from Philly, which would be great for fantasy owners since K. Cobb would go crazy and so would the rest of Philly's offense; but not so good for the Eagles come playoff time when they have to try to run the ball and discover that they still can't since they got rid of Westbrook.

Dansby to MIA is a brilliant move by the 'Phins. What's the deal with AZ this season anyway?
