A perfect outing by the best pitcher in the game today, in my opinion, lowering his WHIP to 0.99 and ERA to 1.99 .

115 pitches, 11 Ks and a couple of nice plays behind him, I saw highlights not the game.

First time in history there have been two perfect games in the same year .

Second. THere were 2 5 days apart in 1880.

I picked up the game in the 7th and watched the last 3 innings. It was awesome. Especially since it was 1-0 and one wrong pitch could tie the game (like that one that Victorino caught in the 9th on the warning track in straight away center)

I really don't pay any attention to 19th century records due to the level of score keeping but there were two in June of 1880 when Worcester beat Cleveland and Providence beat Buffalo .

I saw Dennis Martinez's and Cone's on television, Cone only threw 88 pitches and still had 10 strikeouts .

One of those 1880 games was thrown by Montgomery Ward who later founded the 5 and dime store of the same name.

Roy Halladay is a blast to watch. He's the perfect combination of "insanely talented" and "works really fast." No wasted pithces, no pointless downtime in between pitches. He's great.

and he still might not win the Cy Young if Jimenez keeps at his pace.
