This guy is really stepping up for the Giants this offseason. I love waiver wire pickups that turn out like this.
GO Giants!!!

Why in the world do you waive a guy in August when his contract expires at the end of the year ?
Ross would've been arbitration eligible but it's not like the Marlins were going to be on the hook for a bunch, they had already paid him up to August 22nd, and maybe they could have got something in return in the off season.
You gotta love a guy who says if he hadn't made the big leagues he's be a rodeo clown .

would have rather kept Cliff Lee than Halladay.
Halladay did not come up big in this series

"Fans" like you don't deserve players like Halladay.
Halladay is looking like being 1-1 in this series while pitching both starts against Tim Lincecum .
Meanwhile Rollins, Utley, Werth, Ibanez, Polanco and Victorino all come into game 5 hitting below .200 for the playoffs yet you point the finger at Halladay .

that might be the dumbest thing i've heard today. the guy threw a no-hitter in his first post-season start. he's pitched tim lincecum even and sent the series back to philly. what more would you like?
(the smarter thing, obviously, would have been to keep lee instead of trading him to seattle. halladay and lee 1-2 would have been pretty much unbeatable.)

This
is the dumbest thing I've heard all season... Not only does he pitch Lincecum (who might I remind everyone, is the '08 and '09 Cy Young winner) even two times. He sent the series back to Philly and clearly shifted the momentum back to the Phils.
Obviously the bats went silent for the Phils this post season. That and only that is what hasn't come up big for them.
Say what you want about Cliff Lee over Doc Halladay. But Halladay did lead the majors with 21 wins this year, pitched a perfect game in May and a no hitter against Cincy last week. Also, he not only came up big tonight, he came up huge. - a real Phillies fan.

halladay, you see, was supposed to pitch four games and hit a bunch of home runs. then he would be much mo better than cliff lee.
(also, cliff lee had the added attraction for the phillies of walking after the season. yes, a player that will not play for your team next season is always better than one that will.)
((you have the honor, in watching halladay, of seeing the finest pitcher of his era. that really should be enough.))

you would think winning the world series once in a blue moon would be enough. they should just go back to losing now, and we could all love them.

Now you all are mixing threads.
(Although, Cody Ross might make a better head football coach than Josh McDaniels.)
