I just figured this forum needed some activity (plus I'm bored).

I'm personally a U of Florida basketball fan, so we're feeling pretty good about a 3-seed (assuming the SEC Tourny goes as planned), but what about everyone else? Fans of bubble teams? of top 10 teams? of NIT hopefuls?I just figured this forum needed some activity (plus I'm bored).

I don't have a "team" that I root for every year. I usually watch the first round cheering for the underdogs and being mostly disappointed and then pick one of the "favorites" that I have enjoyed watching and cheer for them the rest of the way.
I have a Grandpa who is a Kansas alum, so he always roots for them and if I see him during March I'd better be wearing Jayhawk blue or I'm in trouble. My other Grandpa bleeds University of New Mexico Lobo red, so I always cheer for them if they happen to make it into the tournament.
My favorite style of play is Syracuse's zone defense, and I usually enjoy any team coached by Roy Williams or Mike K ... the style is just fun to watch.

I'm a UCLA fan, but with such a young team I think sweet 16 would be a best case for the Bruins.
I will be very surprised if either Kansas or Ohio State don't win it all but the nature of the tourney, one bad game and you're out makes for great entertainment. Notre Dame seem to be peaking at the right time but I'll take Syracuse as my sleeper, if you can call #11 a sleeper .

Florida should get a #3 unless something bizarre happens in the SEC tourney and they have a shot at the round of eight, anything more would be a huge upset in my mind, it's tough to beat really good team when your top two scorers both shoot around the 40% range.I'm a UCLA fan, but with such a young team I think sweet 16 would be a best case for the Bruins.

As you can see by my Avatar I am a St. John's fan. Happy to finally have a team that is relevant again. Ready for them to make a run in the Big East tournament and then make a good run in the NCAA's!Shocked at the way the game ended just now. Can't believe Refs could let that happen

you can always tell a bogus tar heel fan if they call it "UNC." do any of them call it that? if they do, they are strictly fakers.
(anybody who is a Dook [or Carolina] fan, that did not go to school there, or pay the tuition for a kid or kids to go? should be taken out and not brought back.)

No no, they all called them Carolina, but I just call them UNC (since I, fortunately, am not a fan of the baby blue).

i am from north carolina, but of course not a fan of the sh_t heels. they had themselves a good old time beating up on dook there the other night for the regular season crown. i mean, that was downright awesomes.

Whew....Florida was losing by 12 in the second half to Vanderbilt in the SEC Semis...something like 12 turnovers in the first half (2 for Vandy). We ended up winning by double digits for the second night in a row..

Well Florida shouldn't have gotten a #2 seed but congrats on that, and on playing your 1st 2 games in Florida. I'm happy no #1 seeds were gift wrapped the final four like Duke was last year. It should be exciting.

Well if you're going to say that, who would you have given the 2 to? Uconn or Syracuse? Certainly not BYU or Purdue. I'm not sure that UConn and/or Syracuse are more deserving of a 2 than Florida at this point. UConn did have a nice run in the Big East but really, they were the second tier in the conference most of the year (behind Pitt, ND, Louisville and Syracuse) and their run moved them from 6 to 3, I don't think a 2 would have been right for them. Syracuse is a maybe but I have no issues with Florida being ranked ahead of them. And certainly you're not going to rank Kentucky, Louisville, Wisconsin or Texas over Florida going into the tournament?

BYU is 28-3 and #5 overall in RPI rankings, I know the committee takes injuries and suspensions into account but they could still easily have received a #2 ahead of Florida.
Kentucky lost 8 games but are still ahead of Florida in RPI and waxed them in the conference tourney and were 2-1 versus Florida losing once by 2 and winning by 8 and 16 .
Florida were 4-3 against top 20 teams and were soundly beaten in two of those three losses . On the plus side for Florida is their #8 ranking in RPI and a solid #4 overall SOS .
Still given all the factors I think Florida are probably as deserving of a #2 as anyone and I've got no problem with it ..

I'm just confused how Florida (I think ranked 12 at the time) got a 2 seed after losing to Kentucky (ranked 16 at the time) by 16 in the SEC championship, while Texas (ranked 10 at the time) got a 4 seed and lost to Kansas (ranked #2) by 12 in the Big 12 championship. I'm not saying I think Texas is a better team but it doesn't seem consistent.

So BYU deserved the #2 seed because of their body of work, which consists of 2 top 25 wins since January 1 both against San Diego State and 2 blowout losses in the past 5 games. But Texas (by the way not a Texas fan) who has 5 top 25 wins since January 1 and who has gotten beat badly only by KU in the past few games doesn't? I guess I don't really care that much I'm just looking forward to another exciting March.

Texas were #11 in RPI, 8-4 vs. top 50, 12-7 vs. top 100 and lost 4 games since Feb.19th, that would be one more than BYU lost all year . Two of those losses were to teams who are playing in the NIT.
I'm not a BYU fan, my allegiance is with UCLA as stated above, but when you are #5 overall in the most important poll to the committee and end up as, at best, 9th overall I think you have reason to be miffed.

No way we look past BYU...we had 12 straight tournament wins before BYU beat us in 2 overtimes last season...but you're right..without Pitt, I like our chances for the Final Four a lot more..

I'm still trying to understand what the benefit of being "#1 over all seed" (OSU) is, when you have to play Kentucky, Carolina and Duke to get to the Final. Without doing the research, three programs that are probably in the top 5-10 all time in National Championships. I still say, no matter the sport, if you're the best, you'll win no matter who you play. But having easier opponents sure makes the path a lot easier. And yes, Buckeye fan...

honestly, i don't see that historical titles have any relevance to seedings in a current tourney. i mean duke wasn't given a 1 seed because they won last year, they got it because of their play this year. kentucky is what, a 4 seed starting 6 freshmen? they don't have any connection to what rupp's teams did in the 50's.
