This one's going way out on a limb, but I'll take Red Sox-Phillies.

Predictions make us all look like idiots but I usually look like one anyway so here goes:
AL East
Boston
New York
Toronto
Baltimore
Tampa Bay
The big boys are still the big boys, the Jays are getting better as are the O's, Tampa takes a step back but will reload quickly and contend again in 2013.
AL Central
Minnesota
Chicago
Detroit
Kansas City
Cleveland
The Twins have the best organization and good talent, this is the best division for managers to watch and Chicago might win it but Ozzie's gonna do something batshit crazy and mess it up.
AL West
Texas
Anaheim Angels of Los Angeles, Orange County and Tijuana
Oakland
Seattle
Texas has too many bats and I just hate Oakland. I'm not sure about the wildcard but I'll take the Yankees.
NL East
Atlanta
Philly
Florida
Washington
The Dogass Mets
The Utley thing is huge and I just have a feeling that Lee or Hamels are going to get hurt. Atlanta are improved and I just have a feeling.
NL Central
Milwaukee
Cinci
Chicago
St. Louis
Houston
Pittsburgh
Another hunch, I could see Cinci repeating but I like the Brat Pack. St. Louis has so many issues and the whole Pujols thing so I think they tank.
NL West
Colorado
San Fran
San Diego
Los Angeles
Arizona
Coin toss but I don't think the SF offense is strong enough.
Wildcard goes to Philly.
I won't predict the playoffs because I doubt my teams will be in them.

I came within a whisker of picking Atlanta over Philly for the division title, but I'm not that gutsy I guess.
Your line about Ozzie made me laugh. :)

oh, and:
AL East
boston (smart GM+unlimited $= great team)
new york (pitching sucks but they have bought a ton of runs)
tampa (step back but still pretty good)
toronto (love what AA is doing, but too many questions. look out in 2013)
baltimore (quickest way back to respectability? fire owner)
AL Central
Chicago (ozzie's nuts, but he does know what he's doing)
Minny (always greater than the sum of the parts)
Detroit (always less than the sum of the parts)
KC (remember when KC was a perennial contender? god i'm old)
Cleveland (wesley snipes and charlie sheen could probably make the team for reals)
AL West
Angels (that's a lot of money in old OF's but someone has to win)
A's (san francisco light)
Rangers (surprise teams usually take a step back)
Seattle (the one sure thing in the AL? seattle won't win)
NL East
Philly (may not score more than 3 runs/gm until july. may not need to)
Atlanta (would run away in the other two divisions)
Florida (developing the next generation of yankees and red sox)
Washington (jayson werth?? really?)
The Mets (yes, they're this bad)
NL Central
Milwaukee (so long as pickup bball is not an off-day activity)
St Louis (yes, pujols is this good)
Cinci (see rangers, texas)
Chicago (the cubs suck but they're not the pirates)
Houston (the astros suck, but they're not the pirates)
Pittsburgh (unfortunately, they are the pirates)
NL West
Colorado (it's their turn, right?)
Los Angeles (don mattingly is a nice guy, but he's not joe torre)
San Francisco (pitching wins championships, but it's hard to win games 0-0)
Arizona (at least they won't move to winnipeg)
San Diego (apparently the most profitable team in mlb. probably because they spend about $0.50 on players)
AL Division Series
Boston over Anaheim (the third certainty behind death and taxes)
Chicago over New York (in the playoffs you do have to pitch a little bit)
NL Division Series
Philly over Colorado (in real life, goliath usually wins)
Atlanta over Milwaukee (look. they're the
brewers)
LCS
Boston over Chicago (when washing socks, red always beats white)
Philly over Atlanta (four aces beat two pair. i have no idea what that means)
World Series
Philly over Boston (seriously, your fourth starter is oswalt or hamels?)

anybody that really believes (RIGHT NOW BASED ON THEIR FOUR AWESOME PITCHERS AND THEIR EIGHT OR MORE NON AWESOME HITTERS) philly is going all the way should totally take whatever vegas is giving. i mean, truly, bet on that. let number three hitter Raul Ibanez keep the betting slips in the pouch on his scooter.

(oh, sorry. i have to give credit where credit is due here. i did not mean to leave out mention fo that awesomes bullpen there in phildelphia. its the greatest thing since, i don't know. the tampa bay bullpen.)

i mean, here is how a philly-boston world series would go:
game one: phillies 1-0 behind hallday. maybe. if halladay goes nine.
(this game could also easily go boston 5-1. acuz luck, and acuz big left handed sticks and even halladay can have an off day. everybody gets one sometime.)
game two: boston 5-1 over Lee and the bullpen. 3-1 if Lee goes nine.
game three: boston 6-2 over oswalt and the bullpen.
game four: boston 5-3 over a three day rest halladay and the bullpen.
(there is a rather strong chance Manual won't do this, in that case, boston 7-5 behind Dice K-acuz the phillies can't even really hit Dice K, because they're terrible- over Hamels and the bullpen)
game five: 2-0 phillies behind halladay. if halladay somehow lost the first game (and, indeed, if the stars even alighned for philly to get halladay out there in the first game, which is kind of doubtful but it could happen) then, if the series is still going on, boston behind some pitcher beats the absolute crap out of whover the phillies start and the bullpen.

(what i am really trying to say here, what was missed in all that "san francisco did it with pitching last season and now pitching is all it takes thing" is that the braves were the absolute awful at offense, the phillies too, and the Rangers were no longer the hitting juggernaut they had at one time been. The Red Sox, seriously, are going to be one awesome hitting juggernaut, and they got plenty, plenty pitching. Yukelis, Gonzalez, and Crawford. that is an offense right there, truly, and they got enough above average pieces to complement them. they get by the Yankees in the ALCS because they will out hit them and win the world series over the pitching loaded whoevers. because they will outhit them too.)

See tim, when I say you lose credibility with silly statements this is what I mean. You claim the Philies were "the absolute awful at offense" yet they were in the top two in the NL in each of the past three years in runs scored. This includes last season where they were second to the Reds.
I do like hyperbole as well as the next guy but you do have to give credit where its due.

Looking back on this is kinda fun.
Nobody had more than 4 playoff teams correct, I don't think, nobody had Arizona in the postseason, for obvious, and only Hamilton had faith in the Cardinals, though he had Atlanta vs. Minnesota in the World Series.
This,however, was my fave.

Never pass up the chance to take a shot at Jeter, and of course never man up when he proves you wrong, as he usually has .

I predict the Cards win in 7 games against the Rangers followed by Tony LaRussa retiring.
