Howdy, I was at 79.89 mil with 14 players on minors. I have 2 on waiver wire that will most likely return to me. In the meantime I thought that I needed 15 players in minors so I got one off of waiver wire... this put me at 80.39. I thought that was not going to work, so I put him back on waiver wire...only my salary did not go down.. I need someone to explain all of the to me as I am really confused how to get my salary below 80 mil at this point. thanks Bryce

the two guys clearing to the minors still count as on the roster and againdt the cap, if memory serves, so you didn't need to pick anyone up. the problwm, i'm guessing since the salary was .5mil, is that the guy you picked up was over 28 so his salary counts against the cap even if you waive him. only the under 28 guys can be waived and have the salary come off the books.

dirt's right. all you need to do is waive some under 28 guys like maybe Walker, Mendoza, Madden... and you'll be fine

Now my question is about my minor total. The 2 guys on waivers still count as minors.. right? So my minor count of 13 plus the 2 guys on waivers makes 15. This is in effect until April 8th when I get them back... So I am not violating the under 15 penalty for April 1st to April 8th...right? Bryce

Howdy all, yeah I really screwed up not remembering how it all works. Because I had 14 in minors, I thought I needed to add 1 (over 28). This put me over the cap. Then i figured my 2 guys on the waiver wire that most likely were coming back would put me at 17, so I released the over 28 guy I had just received. Now I was back to 14 but still over the cap. Finally with the help above I released one of my under 28 guys to get back under the cap.Now my question is about my minor total. The 2 guys on waivers still count as minors.. right? Sadly under the current minor league system, with salaries counting and only 4-5 players really getting development the league has devolved into a system where the best bet is to have 4-6 "real minor leaguers" and then the rest are the cheapest free agents you can find.
Guys like [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9636266]Kelleher[/url] and [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9683829]Altobelli[/url] are golden because they take up a roster spot and only cots $50K a year .

You're fine with roster.Sadly under the current minor league system, with salaries counting and only 4-5 players really getting development the league has devolved into a system where the best bet is to have 4-6 "real minor leaguers" and then the rest are the cheapest free agents you can find.

Agreed. Minor Leaguers not counting against the cap should be change #1.

What do we need to put this to a vote? This kind of thing can be a manual adjustment and tracked via message board posts until we can lobby Admin to implement an official change.

Well, minor leaguers not yet eligible for free agency should not count against the cap. Otherwise, we'd create a loophole for hoarding players.What do we need to put this to a vote? As for a vote I believe that would fall under the unanimous requirement, major change and not at the "end of a term" (though what that is in subscription leagues I don't know) and unanimous just isn't likely to happen for any proposed changes in this league.

i'd suggest a vote to allow a simple majority for changes since, as you say, "end of term" can be a bit nebulous in a subscription league. i imagine that in itself would require a unaminous vote though, so that would be a problem. i can't say this particular issue is at the top of my personal 'to do' list but it's not something i'd stand in the way of if it came to a vote.

There are a number of owners who have indicated that they are against any idea that isn't automated. I dropped Tyson a note in support on Sunday asking about hte possibilities of getting that particular issue automated and have not yet heard anything back.

i'm one of them. if it came to a vote though, i wouldn't stand in the way on that basis if it would otherwise pass.

The priority list possibly can be changed to run so that the highest winning bids are signed first and then on down the list.
It is also potentially possible to change our league not to use the prestige index.
He's going to double check and let me know in the next week or two on these issues but this one is manual if we want it.

OK tyson responded tonight on some of the issues.1. This particular one would have to be something we do manually.

I think if you bring the player up he counts, if you send him back down he comes back off. Otherwise, wouldn't a team keep players down until X date has passed and could freely bring them up and down with no cost? Or am I not understanding your idea there BM?(I'll put this up for vote this weekend-probably Sunday)

Yeah, that's what i meant Bart.the reason I was asking was that i seem to recall a discussion somewhere sometime with the idea that a player not count against the cap until they were brought up to the majors and then their salary would count against the cap.

That's exactly the way I envision it, non free agent eligible only players are exempt while in the minors.
If a player is brought up to the majors his salary then is counted while he's on the major league roster.
Teams make their manual adjustments on the "off day" and then post any in season adjustments in a topped thread. A four man committee sounds like a great idea though I'm sure 1-2 individuals could monitor things.

I suggested 4 to minimize the amount any 1 person would need to do. I think you'd need to have 1 person from each league "cover" the opposite league to remove any claims of bias.
