The NBA Lottery

Basketball in the Northwest just got a whole lot more interesting (until the Sonics move).

Fuck the NBA Lottery, and fuCK David Stern. What a debacle. 1313

Well you knew Boston wasn't going to get one of those top three slots after admitting to tanking didn't you.

Like every team does every year, Fuck David Stern.

Memphis could have really used a top two pick as well, the system sucks. 1313

ESPN had a great shot of a disbelieving Celtics fan. It was a real highlight.

But honestly:

Oden
& Roy
& Aldridge
& Randolph
& Jack

Yes! Fuck the Celtics, and douchebag extraordinaire Bill Simmons! Hey Bill, why don't you tell us a bit more about how tough it is being a Boston sports fan. "Oh woe is me, my basketball team hasn't won a championship in 20 years, we're so star-crossed." You know he wanted to put the Celts number 1 on his little list.

Bill Simmons does not represent Boston sport fans, he is awful. 1313

* And I know that we're going to trade Randolph for a 3 -- but that's a solid starting five, if heavy on the bigs.

I'll trade you a 12th and a 21st for a 5th.

Unfortunately for you, that is not the perception across the country.

A friend of mine who I go to Hokie games with is from the greater Boston area. Some of his buddies came in for one game this year and they were talking about Simmons and how he seemed like he was channeling their thoughts while he wrote. It was all I could do to keep from hanging myself. So at least those Bostonians feel like Simmons speaks for them.

Again, fuck the Celtics. "The destruction of the Garden"? Yeah, because it just collapsed, and then the Celts had to play in a high school gymnasium. Try being a Wizards fan, jackass.

NBA is the worst of the major sports, and it trails hockey by quite a distance. 1313

Celtics 5th!

The system works!

Tanking bastards.

May 23, 2007 at 05:19AM View BBCode

this is how the system is supposed to work, and now stern wants to balance the odds even more

i think this is great for the league, neither memphis nor boston were the least talented team in the league, both had stars who were injured for much of the year, they're no more deserving than the teams who won it

Damn, I might have to start following the Sonics again. Kevin Durant's ass will look great in emerald green...

The Western Conference gets stronger as the East remains the same. I thought Durant and Oden could have made the East far deeper, and the Eastern Conference playoffs far more fun to watch. I must admit to being biased though, I grew up in the LBC.

*Prediction: Durant will end up being a better player than Oden.*

Please watch the language mr1313 and FuriousGeorge - you'd think that after all this time, you guys would know the rules.

I found this article interesting regarding tanking:

Stern's finally coming around to my thoughts on an unweighted lottery.

the unweighted lottery sounds nice, until the teams slotted for the 6-8 seeds start tanking to get out of the playoffs
FuriousGiorge

May 23, 2007 at 02:33PM View BBCode

Why not just put all of the teams in the league in an unweighted lottery? Or better yet, get rid of the lottery and the draft altogether, and have each team send a representative to duke it out Battle Royale style, until only one is standing and then they get to make the first pick, with each team picking in the order in which their representative died.

It's retarded. Every league has tanking, get over yourself NBA.

I don't think the Owner would let that happen. Even just 2 or 3 home playoff games generate a ton of revenue for the team.
