Also, let's take it as read that, unlike brain-dead Cowboys fans, I don't filter all of my sports perceptions through how I feel about my own team.

let us not go blaming Bud Grant for inflicting Joe Kapp on the football world. i mean, somebody had to play quarterback for minnesota. most of the players in the CFL were too smart to even condsider it.

what took you so long, tyles?

I mentioned sammy baugh earlier.

it's perfect irony that I was wrong, but that the foreskins greatest QB was a Texan, and a real man, unlike the weenies in the DC/Virginia area.

All the same, Dave Krieg is the greatest quarterback [...] of all-time.

I see that you mentioned Baugh, but not as a Redskin. I'm guessing you thought he played for the Bears. I used to get him and Sid Luckman mixed up, anyway.

If I was a skins fan, I wouldn't filter all of my sports perceptions through them, either.

(LOL infinitives)

The Cowboys had winning teams for over 20 years under Landry, and went to 5 SB's, winning 2, and were a perennial contender. It stands to reason that a few of their players would be in the discussion for the greatest at their positions.

Bob Lilly, Tony Dorsett, Mike Ditka, Lance Alworth (sorry tr), Mel Renfro, Randy White, Chuck Howley and Staubach were great players, and that's why they won lots and lots of games.

Too bad you can't unfilter your hatred of the Cowboys when seeing that, craiggles.

too funny... when I saw the picture, I googled Sid Luckman... LMAO.

I knew I was missing an ancient skins QB, but I'm having fun with craig, so it's ok that I whiffed. I deserve any derision that comes at me.

all while throwing 3 picks, 1 of which was a pick six in OT.

You don't realize that I only throw Brett Favre out there because it irks you? LOL

Staubach is far from the best ever. As far as Dallas is from Indianapolis. Or Green Bay. Or San Francisco.

I do know that, but I also know you and giorge are children, and haven't a clue what you're talking about.

So, I play with you like I would all rugrats, and attempt to educate you while I do.

It's my gift to humanity, and I do it for the children, for they are the future.

Now tell us about how you had to walk uphill both ways in the snow to get to school!

(Staubach might sneak into the all-time top 10. Might.)

I only did that when it was snowing and my shoes had holes in them.

I agree that Staubach deserves mention in the top ten football players of all time. Right behind Emmitt Smith, and several slots above Jerry "I catch 5 yard passes in the era when CB's aren't allowed to touch me, and I gallop for YACs to make me look like a deep threat" Rice.

(I'd mention the real LT, but not until he's cleared of these OJ like charges.)

staubach was a far better qb than he is generally given credit for because he payed in an era that didn't pile up passing stats like they do now. but as was mentioned he was the all-tme leader in qb rating when he retired and his offences were amongst the leaders in multiple categories during most of his time in the league. i don't think there's much question for those who saw both that he was better than aikman, for instance. having said that, my own choice for best qb all-time would be joe montana.

That's not even a remotely honest assessment of Jerry Rice's career, but it is funny how you somehow manage to treat yards after catch as a bad thing.

Montana
Unitas
Elway
Baugh
Brady
Manning
Favre
Marino
Tittle
Graham
Layne

That's 11

while Montana is a fair choice for best all time, and, unlike goirge, I can easily see the case for him, I have to take exception to your Staubach comment.

I think he is generally regarded as one of the very best who ever played, at least by people with a brain.

(The difference, deke, is that Bryan's 11 are all at least conceivably better than Roger fucking Staubach.)

((Well, Bobby Layne is a stretch.))
