If they break the law, the Broncos get a call from Jerry Jones, inquiring about their availability.

only if they can play a bit. otherwise the call comes from al davis.

haha to both of those last two

Also, Cutler basically cried his way out, complaining of trade rumors, what has he proven other then good season stats? Nothing, I love how Cutler a few days ago when I read a report calls Josh an offensive genius, says how great a coach he is, what a great mind, well the Broncos players need to just shut up and play really, look at what Belichek has done, this guy is in the mold of him except his specialty is offense, not defense, I never liked Mangina much anyway so I'm not surprised to see the failure there. Hopefully they work it out with Marshall, they will probably struggle for a year or two, like Belichek did before they put it together, I agree that Mike should not have been fired but they weren't doing so great with him either, give it time

I love the 'what has he done?' argument in football, I really do. Like it's a game of tennis between quarterbacks and every other player is watching from the stands.

Was Dan Marino good? Pfft, how many tournaments has he ever won...?

Well, he's right--both guys are ginormous douchebags with God complexes who wear stupid hoodies to try to look "low-key" and "just one of the guys."

(Apparently "ginormous" is actually a word, it cleared my Firefox spell-check. Interesting.)

What a crappy way for the Bengals to lose that one.

Just like Coach McDaniels drew it up!

(Seriously. Only the Bengals.)

terrible, horrible, lousy, pop warner play by the safeties.

I can imagine McDaniels going over that in the headset

"Okay, tell marshall to work a small out drag route to the sideline at the 1st down marker. He'll pull over both safeties and the cornerback will cover him up on the front side.

Now tell, Stokley to run a delay wheel route from the weak-wide slot.

Okay, now Orton, I need you to throw the ball into Marshall, but make sure you throw it high. Really sell it, because we need the safeties to go for the immediate tackle of Marshall and the corner to jump for the ball; the corner won't be able to catch the ball, but he will be able to tip it and the ball should drop right into Stokley's hands running full tilt if he delayed on his wheel route properly.

Trust me, this will work. I saw my dad run this exact play in High School when I was 7.

On this note, with every INT, McDaniels looks smarter and smarter.

Two weeks in, Denver is 2-0. Cincy beat a Green Bay team that was supposed to be formidable this season, making Denver holding them to one score look even better.

I think I finially figured out what McDaniels did in the offseason.

Bringing in the Pro-Bowl caliber secondary is allowing them to run the 3-4 successfully with 4-3 personnel, which usually spells disaster. Most of the sacks Denver got yesterday were coverage sacks. You can't do that unless your secondary is really stepping up.

I'm not sure I agree

1. I think Mike Nolan was a good hire. However, Denver faced Carlson Palmer in what was effectively the second preseason game for him...and then Cleveland. I'd argue that this defense has not been tested...and aside from an aging Dawkins, I can't see what pro-bowl caliber secondary player that the Broncos brought in.

2. Let's agree that the Bears' competition has been far better than the Broncos' competition thus far. Week one could have easily gone the other way for both teams, so I really can't see any room to give McDaniels credit for looking any smarter for his handling of the Cutler situation.

Was it? I'm not so sure. The DBs converged on the player to whom the ball was thrown, just as they are taught to do. They were committed...it was just a fluke play.

If you play safety or corner with the mindset that "I'm going to wait to see if there is a richochet instead of going after the intended receiver", then you probably aren't playing in the NFL.

The Broncos beat Cincinnati on the flukiest play imaginable and then they beat f-ing Cleveland. Let's not print playoff tickets quite yet.

Plus they started last season in a similar fashion. They had a convincing win vs. the Raiders in week one, followed by a flukish win on a egregious non-fumble call against San Diego in week two. And we saw how that season turned out...

Well, the Broncos have yet to play the Chiefs or Raiders. That could get them to six wins right there.

(And they play the Redskins. 7-9 is quite possible.)

Why would anyone think otherwise? The Broncos are still a dogshit team, there's no reason to favor them over the other two dogshit teams in the division.

I heard 4 different ex NFL secondary guys comment on it daren. they all said it was terrible defense by the secondary. (daren woodson, deion, rod woodson, and rodney harrison were the guys I heard say "somebody has to play the ball")

Maybe I just don't understand the game, but as I looked at the play in real time, it seemed that the defenders all simultaneously committed to stopping the receiver from either making the catch or advancing.

Denver may be a turd of a team...but, despite that, they'll finish with a better record this season than the awesomeness that is Washington and Seattle.

(I don't like McDaniels, but I do like trash talk.)
