Of course he was. Anyone who doesn't realize that simply doesn't understand the history of the game.

When Neil Armstrong landed on the moon Johnson had been retired for 40 years and his 3,509 strikeouts was the most. Nobody else had 3,000 and wouldn't until Bob Gibson struck out Cesar Geronimo in 1971 to become the second pitcher to record 3000 Ks. Number 2 on the all time list was Cy Young with 2,803.

Walter won 400 games basically because he threw shutouts or allowed one run. The Senators weren't good enough to score. He has more 1-0 decision (and more wins and losses in the 1-0 variety) than any other pitcher in the history of the game. His 110 shutouts is 20 more than the runner up (Grover Cleveland Alexander). He was twice the AL MVP in an ERA when you weren't allowed to win it more than once (there was an award established from 1911-1914 and then it went defunct and another came around for 1922-28 Both had the requirement that previous winners were ineligible)

Walter Johnson was the tits, yes, but this is beyond trivial. He didn't win two MVPs when you were only allowed one. He won two different awards, and none of the seven other winners of the first one happened to win the second. (And four of those previous winners were retired by the time the second one was issued.)

Come on, Bryan.

I assumed it was randy johnson because Jchelland has expressed that he likes pitchers who are not approved by PETA. Also, people generally put the earlier brackets first, and his first pick was from bracket 3. i think its a fair assumption. he could have picked walter johnson, but i would take a straight bet that it was randy johnson.

however the point is moot, because benne voted for randy johnson, and now Jchelland can just say its walter johnson since randy already won.

(also, i wouldve voted for Walter Johnson instead of 3 finger brown, but i assumed that Walter Johnson is in no danger of losing.)

also, 1500 of Johnson's strikeout victims were dinosaurs. and they were known for their atrocious plate discipline.

It's hard to swing a bat with those tiny little arms.

It was Randy. And I am glad to see him pull it out. I will forfeit my second vote in this round for once again being stupid.

Doesn't that child know he's playing with a dimetrodon? It's equipped with a ... large sail on its spine.

(It's like a trireme with razor-sharp teeth, and do you know how dangerous triremes are?!)

Even though it is not baseball, a Calvin and Hobbes image jumped into my head when the dinosaour thing came up:

(The middle infielders are usually pretty gamey. If I'm that dino, you better believe I'm going straight for Bobby Bonilla.)
