like every year, people are crying already about the 65 teams.March 14, 2010 at 11:32PM View BBCode
You know what's funny. I've never watched a march madness before, but I've decided to make this my first. I even have thursday off and everything. It's going to be a thing.March 15, 2010 at 12:08AM View BBCode
It matters to the schools in the sense of accomplishment and money but for me as a fan, it seems rather silly to argue over who is the last one in etc. I don't care about the 30th or so at large bid and I'd hate for it to move to 96. For me Thursday and Friday are the greatest two days of the sports year. I'll watch a little on Sat/Sun but probably not after that. Its those first two days when the little guy can beat the big guy and does that makes the tournament magical for me. In the end though I know they're not going to the finals. But for two days Valpariaso, Bucknell, Richmond and St Mary's Sisters of the Poor top my sports love.March 15, 2010 at 12:45AM View BBCode
I can't believe that they're talking about expanding to 96. Why not just get it over with, put every D-1 team in the field, and let that be the entire season?March 15, 2010 at 12:47AM View BBCode
Wait, they're actually talking about a 96-team field? The play-in game, in that it screws over the little guy in the interest of the seventh team in the ACC or the ninth team in the Big East, is bad enough.March 15, 2010 at 01:40AM View BBCode
I heard that in passing the other day. I have no idea if it was just something that was floated out there, or if they're seriously considering it.March 15, 2010 at 02:02AM View BBCode
I don't get it. Why mess with such a good thing? If the worst part of your tournament is the play-in game, then you're doing pretty fucking good. Expanding to 96 is crazy talk.March 15, 2010 at 02:08AM View BBCode
Looking back, it's not actually a bad draw for us. We're still on the West Coast, the MU game looks to be a [url=http://kenpom.com/team.php?team=Washington]toss-up,[/url] and we draw the weakest #3 seed in the tourney. Fingers crossed.March 15, 2010 at 04:45PM View BBCode
EVerybody talks about the expansion like it would kill the thing.March 15, 2010 at 04:58PM View BBCode
And watering down the regular season even further.March 15, 2010 at 05:14PM View BBCode

I'm not for expansion, but I"m not getting my panties in a wad over it. I mean, all it does is water down the play-in round.
The teams who would get in aren't doing any damage in it, so I don't get all the hate, other than it's just about more money.

Not if my not-very-good bubble team has anything to say about it.March 15, 2010 at 05:27PM View BBCode
It's pretty funny that you as fans you're in virtually the exact same spot, and have near-opposite ideas about the expanded field. I mean, Virginia Tech and Illinois were probably the 66th and 67th teams.March 15, 2010 at 05:29PM View BBCode
I stand by my principles.March 15, 2010 at 06:03PM View BBCode
I think they should get rid of the "Conference Tournament" automatic entry as I think they water down the regular season.March 15, 2010 at 06:34PM View BBCode
I agree with that, with the caveat that I know very well it's never, ever, ever going to happen.March 15, 2010 at 06:48PM View BBCode
didnt illinois losed to northwestern. so both of them deserve to be in the n.i.t.March 15, 2010 at 07:04PM View BBCode
We'll just assume that the entire thing is a first draft.March 15, 2010 at 07:14PM View BBCode
I don't think you have to get rid of the conference tournaments all together, but I would really like to see all the one bid conferences move to a format that allows the higher seed to play at home. This would probably mean cutting all tournaments down to eight teams at most (acus of travel time, assuming you keep it at one week), but...I don't think that's a bad thing at all.March 15, 2010 at 07:35PM View BBCode

Spoken like a guy whose 19-14, not very good bubble team is on its way to a probable NIT title!

1) I don't think Tyles is a Gonzaga fan per se, just a fan of anything northwest-related that isn't Washington.Pages: 1 2
