What do you guys think? I'm thinking we'll see one more 1-week extension before they come to an agreement...March 08, 2011 at 01:28AM View BBCode
There won't be a lockout. There is more than enough money involved to make any reasonable party happy. Right now the NFL is the most popular sport in the country but a strike kills a lot of goodwill with the fans, they don't want to lose that momentum.March 08, 2011 at 01:30AM View BBCode
Do you think it will be settled soon or closer to the season though? Cause I'm betting we'll see at least a prelim agreement within the next 2 weeks...March 08, 2011 at 04:17AM View BBCode
I think they will at least have an arrangement in place for THIS season prior to the draft in April. I wouldn't be surprised though if they negotiate it as a 1 or 2 year deal and then re-negotiate during the season(s).March 08, 2011 at 06:04PM View BBCode
honestly, this is a dispute that could probably be equitably settled by the average 5 year old. for that reason, i'm with bart.March 08, 2011 at 06:10PM View BBCode

1) the owners get 1.5 billion off the top

3) rookie wage limits
4) larger rosters (to offset 2)
5) better health coverage for former players
6) higher salary cap with floor
7) reduced or eliminated franchise tags
8) earlier true free agency (to offset 3)

if my contract is based on 16 games, and they want me to play 18, then you're going to have to pay me the difference.March 08, 2011 at 10:14PM View BBCode

It's the same number of games overall, since they'd eliminate two preseason games.March 08, 2011 at 10:52PM View BBCode

That sounds almost too good to be true. Everyone wins. :)

If by stone age you mean playing 6 hours of football more, then yes. I think if there's an increase in roster size, you can afford to do the 18 games. I'm a big proponent of the preseason games, so don't get me wrong (great place to find hidden talent), but I also think that if done right, it'll work out the same. The owners don't gain that much more from an 18-game schedule from tickets though..only from TV networks..March 09, 2011 at 04:07PM View BBCode
