Sortable HOF stats

March 23, 2011 at 06:54PM View BBCode

It would be nice if you could sort stats when looking at the HOF page. The ability to easily see how many players have 3,000 hits or compare total All Star appearances would be a big help. It would make it easier to evaluate potential inductees. Plus it would just be fun to able to compare different HOF players. Currently it's virtually impossible to compare stats on the page because they just all bleed together.

This is a great idea and it should be relatively easy to implement since sortable columns are available elsewhere on the site.

To piggyback on Jim's idea,

Position columns would be outstanding as well. Well established leagues can have have tons of inductees and it would be nice to be able to see all the catchers for instance in one group.

Just fyi, in leagues with a ton of inductees I've started exporting the page as a web query into Excel. Then you can sort the data in whatever way you'd like.

I love this idea! Even though we can view it in the league leaders section, having it available for Hall of Famers would be wonderful.

I have also always advocated a Hall of Fame designation beside players names on the League Leaders list, baseballreference.com does this, I guess an asterisk is out as that's used for active players but maybe just an H beside their name.

Or you could give them a different color if we have any left that are usable. I'm thinking of Brown or grey as potential colors.
Lets see what we're using now

Red-FOY
Orange-ineligible for post season
Yellow-Gold Glove
Yellow/Green-MVP
Green-ROY
Blue-All Star

are there other colors we're currently using that I've misssed?
