I'm satisfied. I didn't expect more than what I got.

I got a closer and an outfielder, a start at any rate. I was surprised the pool was so old.

So how does the free agency bidding work is Salary per Annum or over the length of the contract?

You offer an annual salary and also specify the number of years you are offering. The length of the contract will modify ABE's perception of the salary offer. For example, if you offer a player a contract that goes into his probable decline, he (or ABE) will rate it better than an equal amount over a shorter term.

you bid a yearly salary for whatever number of years. you can only bid to OS36 so a max length deal is 8 years for the 28 year old

If you are asking about placing bids, you put in the salary per year and how many years. For example, 5.1 under salary and 3 under years would be 5.1 per year for 3 years.

Then it goes through some big formulas based on age, length of contract, leadership (not used in the initial free agency) and prestige (but prestige isn't a factor the until 1955) to give an adjusted yearly amount to determine where the player signs. This adjusted amount is only used to determine where the player signs, not what you end up paying.
