I thought the Best starting pitcher thread was nice so I want to get some opinions here.
Who was your favorite pitcher to watch work a game? It could be closer or starter or one of those loser lefties they bring in to get 1 guy.

I loved watching Mulder pitch for the A's the last 2 years. (at least when he was on) When he was having a good game he was unhittable. He was always in the strikezone and always making the opposing hitters look stupid. Not to mention he would get the games over so fast. He had a couple games go under 2 hours. That was cool.

I remember a game 4-5 years back when he Clemens had one of the best pitchers duels I have ever watched. You can actually still watch it every now and then on ESPN classic. If you are into that stuff I highly recommend you sit back and enjoy.

Pedro during his peak years in Boston was amazing to watch every time out. You could just see him setting hitters up with an mix of pitches and then finally just pulling the string on a change up for the K.I remember a game 4-5 years back when he Clemens had one of the best pitchers duels I have ever watched. You can actually still watch it every now and then on ESPN classic. If you are into that stuff I highly recommend you sit back and enjoy.

Those Pedro Martinez-Roger Clemens matchups when Pedro was with the Sox and Roger was with the Yankees were always entertaining. They didn't always live up to their billing as great pitcher's duels but something crazy always seemed to happen in those games. My personal favorite between those two was the 2003 ALCS matchup in game 7. That game wasn't quite the pitcher's duel everyone expected (although Pedro did pitch very well until Matsui got a hold of him late in the game) but that was one of the most amazing games I have ever seen.

I have two. Orlando Hernandez because of his funky delivery and because he is a pretty good pitcher. He also tried out that lob-like ephus pitch a few times which was entertaining until A-rod hit it about 450 feet a few years back when A-rod was still with the Rangers. Roger Clemens is my other. For him to be so dominant at this age is amazing. Clemens is great to watch ... anyone with a wierd delivery, El Duque, Dontrelle, Chad Bradford, Nomo.Also David Cone and David Wells, growing up as a Yankee fan.

I like watching Dontrelle Willis, because of his weird delivery and how dominant he is. I also like watching any Astros pitcher wghen they are having a good game, particularly Lidge and Backe.

Well, since I've unfortunately never been to a major league game, seeing them on TV has made me a huge fan of Tim Wakefield. It's great when he's on with his knuckler and just downright hilarious whenever countless balls are sailing towards or over the Monster. Yes, at times I find it funny when the Red Sox lose because it's taking an awful risk on Wakefield's part to throw a ball going 65 mph over the plate to a guy who could likely plant it in Cape Cod if he felt inclined to do so.So for me, most entertaining would be Tim Wakefield.

Carlos Zambrano is my favorite, then Orlando Hernandez. Maddux and Moyer are fun to watch when they are on their game, too.

During his 2nd half streak last year, it was just unbelievable to watch him pitch. The opposition was lucky if they got even five hits and didn't strike out 10+ times. His fastball/changeup combo is almost untouchable (except against lowly Toronto last week...go figure)

I've always liked watching Prior pitch. I saw him live at Coors I think it was last year....when the guy throws it looks like he's playing catch.His delivery looks effortless, but that ball explodes when it leaves his hand.
Now hopefully he can stay healthy and get back to form!
Are there other pitchers, past or present, that were known for throwing that way??

Prior's by far my favorite pitcher of this coming generation, but I still enjoy watching the Wakefield whiffs. :D

Pedro in his prime in Boston was ELECTRIC!! In addition to a guarteed win including 10+ strikeouts, Pedro starts brought a party atmosphere inspired by Kerrigan's K-Men who wore red face paint, posted K's on the center field wall, and counted the K's in Spanish. Also, Pedro starts always brought out tons of Dominican fans with flags and lots of pure excitement, which added to the experience.I have a running joke that if I have tickets to a game, there is a 90% chance that Tim Wakefield is pitching. Nolan Ryan after he learned control. Phil Niekro because how funny the knuckler was. Clemens because of his sheer determination. Seaver when he was in his prime. Gibson when he played the Pirates. Palmer when Baltimore was good. Last but not least the Mad Hungarian when he was with the Cardinals. Such fun!Pages: 1 2
