Two words: Jeremy Reed.

Jesus. Can someone please inform the Mariners that they are not players in the American League, and they can stop going after overpaid players in a futile attempt to win a pennant with the motley collection of ballplayers they have.

They should also consider trading for Jim Thome... He would be just as overpaid and unproductive as Pavano. Perfect fit!

Atleast the Royals don't think they can compete every year, I'd rather see our "future" playing, as bad as it may be, rather than overpaid veterans. But that's just me.

Speaking of Royals, why is Sisco not starting? He's a big guy, the team needs SP, and he's got the potential to be awesome. They already have a couple of closer candidates.

Now, Thome to the Mariners would actually be a little scary. Which injury prone guy plays DH, Sexson or Thome?

As for trading for overpaid players, usually you get to acquire them a lot cheaper because of the contract. So, I doubt they'd have to give up Jeremy Reed if the league feels Pavano's contract is bogus.

Ugeth Urbina is also available. But he can't call. He used that call already.

At what point does "setting someone else on fire" enter a person's mind when they're looking for payback? Do people really do that sort of thing outside of Charles Bronson movies?

"Well, I talked to him, then I yelled at him for a bit, then I showed him the gun I had in my pocket. At that point, when he didn't respond, I saw no alternative but to light him on fire."
