Wouldn't that be considered a push, anyway? And doesn't Vegas always set the over/under at a decimal, such as 3.5, to avoid just such a situation?

Yes. But I'm not Vegas ... I'm a Hamiltonian Federalist, and I will make the rules however I see fit to benefit myself.

just gave up on you and your stupid logic. Crazy guy is stretch don't you think here is the 1 month update since
Peavy 2.30 ERA 4-1 43Ks
Webb 2.49 ERA 7-0 37Ks
Santana 3.12 ERA 3-2 39Ks (I will update stats tomorrow since not all stats are updated yet)

Now for me the most important stat individually for a pitcher is ERA and seeing how Peavy has the highest I would say he is having the better season. Webb is very impressive at 7-0 but lets be honest thats a shitload of offense he is pitching with, and its the opposite case sadly in San Diego.

How is that for CRAZY (Damn you HTML CODE)

You're an idiot.

But just to humor you more, and to further illustrate how ridiculous it is to judge players this early:

Cliff fucking Lee: 5-0 0.96 ERA 32 Ks
Tim Lincecum: 3-1 1.67 ERA 36 Ks
Zach Greinke: 3-1 1.47 ERA 28 Ks

They have lower ERA lines than Peavy... must mean they're going to the HOF. This thread just made it back to awesome again.

Crazy threads really make my time at work fly by. Thanks, Wild Bill.

Benne already trounced your post once, but let's not forget that one of the reasons the Padres offense is so anemic is Petco, which is *ta-da* one of the reasons Peavy's numbers look so good.

don't worry Ryan, he'll ignore that. I've already pointed it out twice but it doesn't count because it works in his favor.

Yes, the season is early, yes, ERA is not the best way to judge a pitcher's value...but VORP is. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/sortable/index.php?cid=204030 Peavy is actually ahead of Webb and Santana in VORP also. Yet again, not a large enough sample size, and you cant argue that Peavy is the best pitcher because he is 4th in VORP. That should quell some of the park effect arguments.

so there you go JakePeavyFanatic, I made your argument stronger. But its still wrong.

Shouldn't the fact that this is a poll about the "best pitcher in MLB now" that has Ben Sheets and Chris Young as possible answers while omitting Roy Halladay be a tipoff that something is wrong here ?

Nah, it makes sense to me. Chris Young is on the Padres, so clearly he gets bonus points for playing in San Diego. Sheets plays in the NL and probably won a game against Peavy at some point... so obviously he must not be mortal.

Halladay, on the other hand, plays in Canada in the "other league". Obviously nothing he does matters.

I hate you guys sooooo much, he has better numbers away then he does at Petco number 1.
2. Lee and others wont be able to hold onto their numbers you all know that

Look, dude, I already pointed out that Peavy is having a better year than Santana, but just like you said about Lee and others, I dont think Peavy will hold onto the lead over Webb/Santana. And even if he does, that proves nothing. I mean, Santana has straight up outpitched Peavy, no questions asked for multiple years, one year isnt going to just throw Santana overboard unless it is a significantly better year.

#1 the word you are searching for is "than" not "then".

#2 Is it just me or does this stat line show Peavy having a 0.87 ERA at home and a 4.58 away? How is 4.58 better than 0.87??????????????
